Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II set to launch digitally on Switch 2 today, unclear as to whether an upgrade path will be available

Announced today during the Octopath Traveler 8th Anniversary live stream, it's been confirmed that both the first game and its sequel will be launching on the Switch 2. Details remain sparse on exactly what these ports will feature, but going by Square Enix's other releases, we're likely looking at a bump to resolution and performance. It also remains to be seen whether any kind of upgrade path will be made available for the games, with this being something not at all common across the company's titles.

What we do know is that both games will be available exclusively via digital download later today. As soon as we know more, we'll be sure to update you.

If there's no upgrade path, I'll just pirate the PC version, plain and simple. I'm not paying full price again for a game I already bought and barely played.

They are thief.anyway ...look at FFFX S2E and Dragon Quest XI S2E, you have to repay both game at full price just for basic free screen option, nothing more...
10 euros the upgrade was sick but 50..what a madness....
Bandai Namco did great with the last Digimon when you can apply freely the switch 2 upgrade or not depending your actual console using the switch 1 physical version....This should be the example for any futur games ports or whatever...
SE did it only with FF tactics, the most ridiculous one visually (you barely see the difference and dont tell I reallly need a switch 2 for the 60 fps here) but none of their others games of course...
