A buddy of mine got a hold of the riivoluton files the other day so why not share it here, First things first this isn't my work, all the credit goes to this lad over on GitHub; https://github.com/AdmiralCurtiss/ToGLocInject, this patch is a backport of the PS3 translation to the Wii version, only thing not in the wii version is the post game story that's present in the PS3 ver and current remaster. It is possible to port over the english dub from the PS3 port, but I'm not sure how far along the process has gotten. See here for more details; https://github.com/AdmiralCurtiss/ToGLocInject/issues/1

We've hit a bit of a problem recently tho we can't seem to get the Riivolution files to patch into a backup of the game. Used tools like RiivolutionISOBuilder to no avail. It always errors out or rebuilds the ISO without patching it. I assume we're going to need a custom patcher made for this (EG: https://github.com/viktormax3/Earth-Seeker-Riiv-to-WBFS), If anyone knows how to successfully Patch the Riivolution files into the ISO please let me know, I would very much like to get this on real hardware too.

Patch is for Rev2 release of the game and i think it'll work for Rev0 ver as there's an XML for it, but that version has bugs and prone to crashing

EDIT: Heres a Xdelta patch to apply to the Rev2 ISO dump of the game. Just download and apply the patch via delta patcher. https://mega.nz/file/1ZpUxKwK#PDvqehFz4A_26oLKzGGvEAzKi5gRJvc4W96HwouIrMs
Huge shout out to @Technician for pointing me in the right direction @Larsenv for helping me get the Riivolution patch apply to a dump of the game

Your best bet would be @Larsenv
He is the goat of Riivolution to iso patching, if he is still active.
I would love to see this on real hardware

This is awesome. I loved it on Ps3 and the Remaster on Switch, so to try the original Wii version is a treat, fer sure! Can I use this on Riivolution with a physical JP disc? Asking because I'm unsure and it seemed to be on Dolphin there in the screenshots.

It works on real hardware via Riivolution no problem, just make sure you pick the right xml for it. either STGJv0 or STGJv2 representing the Rev0 and the later Rev2 release that fixed some bugs

How do I know which one it is? The disc I buy?

only way i can think of to check is using either v0 or v2 patches and see which works or dump your disc and then run it through a hash checker and compare your SHA and MD5 on redump
http://redump.org/discs/quicksearch/tales-of-graces/
Cool, I'll try this out then. Thank you!

Oh! I looked into it, apparently discs that're the original version will just be the game logo/title but the updated ones literally say "Update Version" in Japanese.
Cool of 'em NGL.

This is amazing, I never thought the Wii version would get a translation since the PS3 version exists. Nice to see this

I made a Xdelta patch to apply to the Rev2 ISO dump of the game. I'll edit my initial post with the link
I can't seem to patch the iso with the xdelta file. Is there a specific version of the iso in order to get this working?

Are you using the Rev2 dump? the patch is for that version specifically

Oh hey I compiled that, yeah I never bothered actually patching it into the game. I would like to note though that because it's a backported official translation it is copyrighted as noted by AdmiralCurtiss, so idk if it's okay to share here.

For posterity, here's a tutorial I wrote in case the Github guide confuses you.

Wait, translations can be copyrighted?
That's an interesting thing to hear. Is there a reason fer that?

Er. Maybe a better way to ask that is like. Anythin' I can read pertainin' to that, legally? Sounds interesting to me!

Kinda common sense isn't it? If an IP owner creates a translation for their own intellectual property, of course the translated dialogue will be encompassed in their ownership of the IP.

Yeah, I guess... But I haven't personally heard anyone bein' come after over a translation backport or other such thing to be honest.
Only if said fan translation is being made when an official release is bein' made.
