The previous game reportedly flopped, the original Devs shut down and the games were published by Nintendo, presumably the latter owns the rights.

In a situation like this a crowdfunded spiritual successor isn't a surprising outcome.

I LOVE CHIBI ROBO but something about this looks off.

Is it just a mock up or a pre pre pre pre pre alpha? It looks very uncanny and odd.
No doubt this is the Unreal engine. Because the Unreal engine is the ugliest engine ever. Every game released on that engine looks like crap.
