If anyone is interested, i did a easy test mod button on version 1 ;)

I cut pin 1 and soldered cable on each half of the pin to a button that should always be closed but opened when pressed, i just tested with what i had at home ;) and pin 2 did get some solder on it which can be ignored :P
And it do work great, i might look for a better button later but i dont use the card or dumper so much, i just wanted to try if it was possible ;)

If you or anyone can help me find an always closed button that’s small enough to fit inside the mig shell. Please let me know. It’s been the biggest thing holding me back from making my custom shell a “v2” shell

Aren't the pin holes on the top left of the motherboard specifically for a button? Why didn't you solder directly to those?

Nope, they are made for that pcb to different points, as pin 1 was not devided there aren’t two points going to upper and lower part of pin 1, doh one of them might be possible to use ;) it might be as easy to use the ground point at the top and just have one cable going to the lower part of pin “one”

The lower pin is just ground iirc I was looking into this not long ago.

There’s 100% multiple ground debug pins in that array and any of those should work. And if I used my multimeter correctly one of them is also connected to pin 1.

So in theory you should be able to just split the trace manually and use those debug pins still (assuming I didn’t make a mistake)

I just ordered some switches similar to the ones that it looks like mig switch are using according to the leaked images of the v2 board. Can you post a picture of the pcb board with the wires attached? Maybe I can make it work with the switches I ordered and I will post some pictures when I get it working.

What switches did you order ?

You just need to split the left most pin down the middle (there’s a comment above yours explaining more)

Yeah you could be right I may have ordered the wrong ones. Have to wait and see when they come in. I have some other ones I have had for a while that I might try.
Unfortunately you did. I made the same mistake since that’s all Amazon sells…so I gotta wait 3 weeks for Aliexpress

I purchased these:
Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! $1.80 | 10pcs/lot normally closed / Open switch 4*6 3 x 6 SMD flexible glue key button 3*6*2.5 tact Switch touch micro 3 * 6 * 2.5 mm

I'm hoping someone at some point gets either a schematic or a bare-board pic of the v2. Would love to check the differences and try to modify a v1 to work exactly as a v2.
At the moment cutting the left-most trace in half and soldering a button works to eject the game and move to the next game, but afaik would lack the function of long-press to move backward which would be great to introduce into v1 as well.

I don't have my Mig Switch yet, but I'm curious about something that those with one can hopefully answer.

My understanding is that the Mig Switch generates a .nxindex file which is used to record the order of the games loaded from the cartridge. Would it not be possible to edit the file on a computer to force it to load the game you want it to load when you go to reinsert the cartridge into your Switch? I know that isn't an ideal solution but it seems like that could be an option if you have access to a PC at the time vs having to cycle through dozens of games via ejection method.

The latest version of mig switch has a button on the cartridge to switch games no more ejecting and reinserting be sure to get the new version.

For folks don't want to lug around that many catridges. For this, it's actually true what they advertise it as.

In terms of piracy, it's something of a last resort for those who are unwilling or unable to get their switch modded for whatever reasons.
Is it so hard to find someone to mod a switch? I dont think so and you have so much more possibilities.

there’s no way to control it via pc unless you connect an esp32 or something to those debug pins…which I guess is easy enough I know the two pins that are needed so I can make a larger esp32 shell.

That being said I don’t know anything about coding for an arduino so I wouldn’t even know where start with googling to learn. I can’t imagine it would be many lines tho you’re essentially just disconnecting a wire and reconnecting it

Sure for $130-200

People charge crazy prices. Locally cheapest person to install an instinct NX for me was $150. Just because you can’t think outside your own little life doesn’t mean something is useless.

I don't think they're talking about controlling the cart directly, but taking the SD card out, mounting it on the PC and editing the index file.

does anyone know the size of the screw holding the MIG flashcart shell together? It’s a bit too tiny for my calipers and trial and error isn’t fun with a single screw hole lol
