This board has been a bit of a nightmare but, I've replaced the southbridge on it because 3.3v from the dialog IC was short, and I replaced a PMIC around F5702 because it was short, now the EDM 030 is pulling 300ma current during standby boot sequence (close to normal), I think a normal boot sequence for one of these boards is closer to 350/360ma. It'll hang on 300ma for maybe 10 seconds or so before dropping to 14ma, at which point it'll give me a beep.

I've checked all around the board and I cannot find shorts, I replaced the WIFI IC because I've heard it causes similar behaviour with absolutely no changes. I also removed the wifi ic from another 030 to check if it causes similar behaviour and it does cause the hanging but it does not goto 300ma, instead around 330ma, I can say the wifi IC is probably ruled out.

I've injected voltage around F5702 with the fuse removed, it was pulling like 10ma and I injected voltage around the PMIC that supplies the SSD and nothing out of the ordinary there.

Afaik FFFF0042 is early on in the boot sequence as someone pointed out to me so it's not likely to be related to the APU rail.

Is there something else I can test/check for? Are there other places I should try inject voltage? My largest suspect is the SSD controller but there doesn't appear to be any shorted caps near it and it gets warm when I try to power it on (seemingly normal)

Did you thoroughly clean out the flux and ipa from under the SB? Usually when it hangs after installing a known good working SB it was the flux and ipa under the SB (on the solder balls) that's messing with the crystal oscillator causing it to hang. I would heat up the sb area then flush ipa under the sb and clean out with compressed air.
