Larsen was, well, used to be the founder of RC24 until he ruined his entire community. He is quite well hated in the scene because he doesn't think on what he should and shouldn't be doing.

Gatekeeping your software behind a Discord server has always been controversial. Because if Discord is shutdown for many reasons, then there is no way to go back to it.

not just that, but discord has been cracking down on links that use their CDN (mainly externally, but who knows if they will crack down on them internally)

An announcement was made in the RiiConnect24 Discord saying to not use Rii Shop and that I doxxed people's IPs and serial numbers yet again. This is blatantly false as I never even touched that database and was falsely accused of doing that. I was sleeping and not even in the voice channel. I believe another admin accessed the table. IPs and serials are only logged to keep track of people to ban them and not stalk them. Furthermore, people were banned for spreading drama

I agree that this was a mess. I joined to turn everything around and everything got ruined

Hopefully someone will create something which is nicer

I'll never understand how every nintendo scene is always such a shitshow. I always though after some point that we would learn from letting 14 year olds run rampant in any discord server period lmao.

okay for context I joined the riishop discord this monring to check out the channel and then got to see the whole server melt down in real time

I joined the riiconnect24 discord to get the other side of the story and here is my take as a neutral observer:
Larsen has made some VERY questionable posts (search for a zip file labeled larsenV to see these posts) and it appears the riishop was unfairly using OSC code (OSC allows for its code to be used in other open source projects but riishop is closed source).

The main claim against riishop however, the doxing, was never substantiated. This image is the closed thing to proof provixed, which shows no identifiable information whatsoever. Obviously the riiconnect24 mods shouldnt be spreading the dox, but an image showing the alleged list of IPs next to usernames with the IPs blurred should be a very easy way to confirm a dox indeed happened.

I have a fairly surface level involvement in the wii homebrew scene so I could be way off here, but I think if you're going to be throwing around dox allegations you need some solid evidence to back them up. the same goes for allegations that Dakotath was spending donations improperly.

The hate on larsen is justified, he's a weeeird and unfunny guy (spoiler), but the RiiShop stuff is more than questionable.

If you check out larsenv.zip then definitely yes he is weird. Shouldn't be given any projects at all just for behaviour.

STILL, the RiiShop stuff is sus.

This makes no sense. I can give all of you my IP address and almost guaranteed you won't find my home address. At most it's right within a 10km range, which is gonna be tens of thousands of people in a smaller town and hundreds of thousands in a decent sized city.

So home addresses being sent? Ehhhhh I don't think so. Maybe it's poor wording but that's a bit suspicious. (though on second thought poor wording doesn't even make sense because what do you get from sending someone's city? That's useless unless you're in a village imo. Imagine sending "hey I know you live in heart of toronto..." yep that certainly narrows it down)

And as 12024 said, what is there to back any of the dakotath allegations?

Larsen doesn't have a great track record so I wouldn't be surprised if he contributed to RiiShop's death, but it's important to note that so far the whole callout post seems kinda "trust me bro." (unless someone has proofs of some sort?)
