The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - gameplay demonstration, limited edition Switch OLED

Nintendo has given fans a long-awaited update on the status of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. As of today, development has wrapped up, meaning the game is on track for its May launch. The ten minutes of gameplay shows some exploration of Hyrule, new powers that Link has, and the new Sky Islands. Weapon degradation makes a return, but you can now fuse random items together to create weapons with better durability; enemies can do this as well. Arrows can also be fused to have new elemental effects, and homing arrows can be made as well. "Ultrahand" is an ability that lets you stick items together--for example, you can stick three large logs and two fans together to create a boat, with seemingly lots of crafting potential to play around with. Another new gameplay element called ascend allows you to rocket up to a ceiling and go through it to the top of wherever you are.

Nintendo also used the opportunity to reveal a Tears of the Kingdom limited edition Nintendo Switch OLED console. Like most Nintendo limited edition systems, it does not come with the game, though it releases just a little earlier than Tears of the Kingdom, with a release date of April 28th.

didn't see any dungeons once again. what a joke of a DLC add in floating platforms and the ability to fix your weapons butt really it's still the same fucking game. 70$ what a fucking disgrace!! call me when ryu can play it.
Why? You obviously aren't interested in it or what Nintendo has to offer.

The presentation was always here to hype people who were already interested.

So they just showed new powers and stuff, that's fine and sure I'm a bit frustrated they haven't showed more, but I also want to discover the game by myself and I know I'm frustrated because I just want to play the game right now.

If they show everything, you would have complained anyway and said that the presentation spoiled everything and you can't enjoy the game because of it.
And really, it's strange to feel the need to keep putting your defeat into words in here. If they don't show anything ? Well it's just a DLC, it's too expensive, you won't buy it. If they show too much ? Still a defeat.
It's a battle you can't win unless you don't fight, you just need to scroll back, hit previous and seek something else to react to. But no, some keep doing it, multiple times even ....

Some years ago Sega released a Sonic Mania special edition... that didn't have the game, just a giant sonic toy.
What are you talking about? The Sonic Mania special edition with the Sonic standing on a Genesis statue? That came with the game. I bought it. Haven't heard of a single Sonic special edition not coming with the game.

I found this to be a far more convincing promotion of the game than previous entries. I am genuinely interested at this point.

If by that you meant a download code? Sure.

But that's not my definition of coming with the game.

You do realize Sonic Mania was a digital-only release before Plus came out, right? There was no "game" (as per your definition) to give because one didn't exist! LMAO

Nintendo had also been giving digital versions of games in their special edition bundles since the 3DS/Wii U, but that's worse here because those games existed physically. Sonic Mania did not.

they literally anounced the game has gone gold hours ago you realy think that they managed to print it out all the copies worldwide?
I think if Nintendo wanted to stop the games from leaking early, instead of sending reviewers an easily dumpable cartridge they should send them a whole unhackable switch, with the game preinstalled. This way if the switch gets tampered with, they'll likely break their NDA or whatever and Nintendo will cut ties with them.

It's implied that the Switch would be returned to Nintendo, so chipping the Switch will have them dropped from future reviews. Sorry if that was unclear.
Tecnically, what you have suggested is possible. Reviewers should register to receive the aforementioned switch and, probably, paid the fees of delivering outside EEUU and Japan. The downside would be that lending Switch consoles entails more risks so less reviewers would be eligible to participate. Besides, just the big N can afford sending consoles like that (and defeats the purpose of download codes).

"If you are unsure, put the adventure on random isolated islands", Eiji Aonuma credo.

Was only a half fail on WW because novelty.
Was a huge fail on SS, because people have taste.

I wonder what will be the outcome here.

Unlike Takashi Tezuka, the real father of LoZ and SMB, Eiji Aonuma is a hack, not even a gamer to begin with, but "protégé" by Miyamoto. Now, the producer of those open world LoZ is the "protégé" of Aonuma.

I would gladly give my money to tendo if only, you know, 80€ drifting joycons...Twice.
Steam Deck is still way more affordable:yaypsp:

Honestly Nintendo are already pretty selective about who they send pre-launch codes to nowadays. This kind of thing really isn't necessary. Your leaks more often than not will come from a store breaking street date.

At this point Nintendo knows the games will be leaked, and take what legal measures they can.

They could give unique IDs to the copies they send for review so they would know exactly who leaked the game first but they don't do that..

Heck how hard is to replace the game icon in the Switch to add "Review Copy" is huge big letters?

That would definitely put off people with OCD, which are plentiful in the homebrew community. What's the point in early leaks if they have the icons all wrong? 😭

You can easily swap the images from a dumped game.
