I've had this cart for the longest time now, and I've barely touched it. I finally decided to start playing it and now it shows a message on the bottom screen saying "An Error has occurred. Hold down the power button to turn off the power then turn it on and try it again. For help please visit support.nintendo.com" I've tried doing this multiple times and it hasn't done anything yet and it's only this cart that has this problem. All my other carts work fine. I'm on the latest system version with no CFW, although I have streetpassed many times with my other 3ds which does, and it shows the homebrew launcher as the app in his hands. I think it might be a cartridge fault although I'm not sure.

I did a once over with the stuff and I'm still getting the same results. What do you recommend now?

Might have to get another cartridge then, I sold 3ds to someone before he had problem with a game that was on cartridge that give him a error like your, he end selling the cartridge and gotten digital copy.

I feel bad then for the guy who bought that defective cart. 'Less it was advertised as such.

It likely is the cart just being dead. But I did have a digital title I bought on my Switch that the system refused to launch. Every time I opened it, it would just crash. Had to talk with Nintendo support for 2 hours before they eventually just refunded the title. A year later or so I did a full factory reset and suddenly it all worked. I doubt this is the case here, but it is worth mentioning.

This is a good idea.
Could be corrupted DLC something like that.

Maybe that new update broke something? You guys think it would be wise to uninstall it?
If you wanted to be sure, you could just remove the SD card entirely and then try to run the game.

If your cart was going bad, there would probably be a lot more reports of Mario Kart 7 cartridges failing as well.

Alright lads, I've tried it in the CFW 3ds without updating it at all and it still breaks. The bottom screen's handler shows this.

"Description: RomFS/Savedata hash-check failed? (fs)"

I would try to backup the save data with checkpoint and then format the save data. If checkpoint can't backup the save data just format it.

Since I've barely played it there's practically no save data to backup so I'll try formatting it and from there

I formatted it through holding the Y X B A buttons during game startup and I still get an error. This time in a different address.

Hello again fellows. Sorry for being rather late, I was preoccupied with some things of my own but I digress. I haven't found a good dump to compare my own to yet, but there has been an interesting development. For some reason the cart is able to start now. Mind it doesn't get far though. It only lasts about half a minute before crashing and throwing up this new error.

perhaps the rom chip isn't well connected to the board, unless you're good at soldering and stuff i would put the cartridge in the freezer or heat it up with a hair dryer and see if it works for longer or shorter

or the rom itself might have gone bad, in which case there is nothing that can be done. Even if you can play it for a little bit the rom could still be bad, my copy of alpha sapphire plays perfectly fine with the exception that it crashes shortly after you start super training.
