Undertale's Toby Fox composed music for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

dsadasd.jpg

On the heels of the new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Undertale creator Toby Fox has revealed he's been working on it as well. Fox composed the field music for the game, as well as a few more tracks.

Fox has an ongoing relationship with Game Freak, having been the primary composer for their 2020 title Little Town Hero, as well as contributing a song to the post-game Battle Tower in Pokémon Sword and Shield (referencing this, Fox boasts that his music in Scarlet and Violet is "not optional"). According to Fox, this relationship began because Game Freak were huge fans of Undertale and one day he noticed that Go Ichinose, the main composer for the Pokémon series, followed him on Twitter, which opened up a line of communication between the two.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will release on November 18.

My immediate concern with the announcement of co-op, and how Nintendo has handled it in the last ( *cough* fed force *cough*) is that it will suddenly be required for dealing with whatever kind of challenge game freak wants to put in.

While I wish there was a return to the challenges as seen in gen 7, I'm not holding my breath. A shame, because I found those infinitely more interesting (yes, even the totem boss), than just duking it out with gym trainers.

Still no word on whether the full Dex is back. I gave gen 8 a hard pass for those shenanigans alone, never mind the gameplay regressions.

Gen 9 has its work cut out if it wants to even be worth the disk space.

The complete dex will never ever come back I believe. Not because the low-poly-cartoonish monsters are hard to model or space intensive, but because gamefreak is lazy and Pokemon Company just don't give a fuck (the thing will outsell everything else anyway).

Just to add that IMO it should be the main feature in every game. The ability to take the monsters you found today to future games is what makes pokemon an unique game.

It happens the most unique thing Pokemon has ever done, is rehash more than anyone else. Keeping all the monsters sets it apart from other games. But the idea's fatal flaw is, for all intents and purposes, infinity. The number of Pokemon increases in perpetuity.

Most likely the developers never considered the decades/centuries implications of what they were getting themselves into. For the full dex to work as originally intended, it must be maintained without interruption for the entire remainder of human existence on Earth.

toby why would you degrade yourself like this
More like, Why would Game Freak be so desperate to hire such a cringy person to make their music...

Pokemon are literally just a few KB of space each worth of text information that make them up, once you strip away the models, textures, and animation data. Space isn't an issue, even if there were 40 zillion Pokemon in the game. In theory, somebody could make an 8MB Pokemon game for the GB/GBC, and it could not only have TONS of map data, but literally almost bottomless pokemon data too. 8MB is absurd for a Pokemon game of that era, and even the biggest ROM hacks only sit at less than 4MB currently. But 8MB is the Gameboy's hard-limit as far as official memory addresses are concerned.

"Do not kill the part of you that is cringe, kill the part of you that cringes" - a smart motherfucker
Yuck, no. It's the cringe itself that needs to die, not those that cringe. XD That's like putting a bandaid on a cancerous tumor.

People are forgetting the worst part of this game soundtrack, that is a spoiler, so don't click if you have not finished the game.

the end credits features an AWFUL Ed Sheeran music.

Doesn't surprise me at all that Toby Fox made the Area Zero music, it reminds me of the True Lab in Undertale. And I can honestly say that it made that place so much more awesome, it wouldn't be the same without it. Might be some of Toby Fox's finest work.
