Yeah it's a 2fa thing

It isn't that hard to sign in I think
It's annoying having to do it in 4 browsers I use. Maybe a "Trust this device" checkbox, but without the 30 day crap.

I use it on everything.
I do too. I had a trusted video downloader in my browser as a chrome extension, but one day the devs behind it turned it malicious and it became a keylogger, stealing passwords nobody knew but me in my head. Never had them written down anywhere. And then everything of mine started getting hacked. My PayPal, my bank, my unemployment, my email account got permanently hijacked, etc. (They enabled the google authentication app on their end, so I'm not getting it back.) And as a direct result, I also lost my Pokemon GO account because I used my Google account to sign in and play. I lost everything nearly due to that data breach, all because some one-trusted devs went rogue for reasons unknown.

Easier to remove 2FA, I guess. I could understand if I was using a device that would wind up in another person's hands... At that point, they'd have access to actually important info and applications that aren't temp related.

A small inconvenience, but an inconvenience nonetheless.

I despise on having to sign-in to GBAtemp after 30-days have passed. I would like there to be a 'remember me' option so that you are always signed in without limitations.
I think I've had to relog maybe, once every 8 months or so? Not sure why people are having different experiences with it. I doubt different browsers could affect anything like that.

I think it is a standard for password with 2fa
Not really. I use 2FA everywhere and this is the only site that requires me to log in again after 30 days.

Some places require 2fa everytime you log in like playstation and nintendo account if you enable them. Coned also require 2fa each time you login.

As for 30 days it depends on the website or app. I use an trading app from intercontinental exchange and it require 2fa when login into a new device and once every 30 days.

Well, they better. That's kind of the point of 2FA.

Also, something I remembered that's kind of on-topic, but not really:
Final Fantasy XIV logs you out every time you exit the game (whether or not you use 2FA), and the official launcher can't even be configured to remember your password. You have to either
  • pick a weak one you can remember and punch it in every time,
  • generate a strong one, store it in a password manager and manually copy it out every time,
  • or download a third party launcher that will remember your password for you.
Of course, 2FA has to be input on every login, but that is all well and good. Again, it's kind of the point. It would be pretty weak for 2-factor authentication if it didn't require you to authenticate yourself twice.
But I digress, that wasn't the topic of this thread. It was whether the site should automatically log you out every 30 days or not.

We have no intention of changing this at this time.

Don't forget to use the voting option if you agree/disagree with this site suggestion.
Yeah, that's kind of what I expected. While I do find this feature mildly annoying, it's nowhere near disruptive. And if you have your browser set to remember your password, it likely won't eat up more than 30 seconds of your day, once a month.

Remember when RiiShop was a thing?

    not really
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It got shutdown because somebody "accidentally" leaked the database for the amount of people using the beta.

RiiShop is the laziest way of downloading Wii games. Did somebody not think of this through?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, Oh yeah, that was a thing too. Dolphin does support Wiimmfi.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah you just need to put your NAND backup with wiimmfi on it
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
ngl i feel like if a bunch of my friends have wiis and know how to get wiimmfi and back up their NAND, then we could do a PMEX Remix tournament

maybe even add UMVC3/DBFZ and make it a biathlon/triathlon
