Dusted off the WiiU for Thanksgiving and my daughter did the update and now none of the installed eshop games or installed games on the hard drive will start.

Is there a guide to get it going again?

(it's been a while since I've used or hacked around with the Wii U)

Then you have to start it manually before you play your games. But haxchi is outdated. Tiramisu+aroma is the new "standard".
Awesome. Thank you. Saved the day! When I update to Tiramisu and aroma do I need to remove haxchi first?

Yes. Remove it first and then follow the wii u guide. Pretty easy to install.
How can I be sure which cfw I am currently using? I definitely have haxchi as I have to manually run it since I accidentally upgraded, but I also see CBHC in the homebrew launcher and the DO NOT TOUCH icon in the Wii U menu.

It's been so long since I touched the Wii U Im very rusty on it all.

Uninstall cbhc with its installer.

Pretty easy. Do you launch a title called "Haxchi" (I dunno if this is the correct description)? Then it is the normal haxchi. This can easily be removed through the data mamagement. Or do you see an "Autobooting..." screen when you turn on the console? That would be cbhc. Don't just uninstall this via data management! Otherwise you will brick your wii u!

When you have cbhc, do what @godreborn wrote. When you're done with this, you can uninstall the title safely via the data mamagement. But launch the installer before (for the case you have cbhc)!

It used to autoboot until about a week ago when I turned it on for the first time in ages and it updated. After the update I have to manually run haxchi before I can start any games.

It's possible that it disabled cbhc. I know one of the eu versions did. 5.5.6 is us only, so I checked your flag. Anyway, if it doesn't show autobooting, it should be fine to delete that game, maybe redownload it from eshop, then install tiramisu or aroma.

Is it possible to reenable autobooting of Haxchi and skip Tiramisu? If so how do I reenable autobooting of Haxchi?

Yes, cbhc installer.
When I run cbhc it pops up the following attachment. I'm afraid to continue. I just want to make haxchi autoboot since it stopped after the last update.

I have no idea if it's on internal storage. Why does it seem like it isn't already installed based on the screenshot?
it sounds like it's installed to the right place, but you can double check by going into data management in system settings before installing cbhc.

Does this mean it's installed to the internal memory?

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.

I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
