Hm.
So I cannot seem to instal tinfoil. Tried the installer and goldleaf, both failed on installing it on emummc. I then upgraded to 14.1.2 hoping that was the problem, but still cant install. Any ideas?
You should be on the latest and greatest:
FW 15.0.0
Atmos 1.4.0
Hekate 5.9.0
Tinfoil 15.0

take a look at this guide for a quick run through:
https://rentry.co/SwitchHackingIsEasy

Thank you very much!!! I see that Atmosphere just got out of the pre-release. Gonna try your approach during this weekend (maybe also migrate from Tinfoil to Tinwoo) ;)
How do we save the saves?
Personally, I don't backup saves with that method. Everything is preserved included Setting.
Ah, almost forgot, if you use custom theme, you must uninstall that before the upgrade. If not, Atmosphere will crash 99,99% after upgrade successful.

Have you tried upgrading Sigpatches?

Hey guys, what's the best way to restore the saves from NxNandManager backup? After fresh emuMMC install and FW update I don't see my user as well, is there a way to restore the user and is it needed for saves restore or it will restore to the new one?

You can import game saves with JKSV

  • jksv — game save manager

If you created a new Emunand it will be a copy of your Sysnand. you should have at least one user. If not just add a new user in Settings.

But is there any easy guide how to perform this? I don't see any "import" menu or button in jksv and the quick quide on their github is mostly descriptive with the word "import"appearing twice, not helpful. I've created the new user - is this a problem to make saves work?

I believe you have to run the game atleast once to inject the save.

I no longer use cfw on my switch but i did at one point and there are two things that i was wondering about my switch after i did it.

1. Whenever i delete or move files to my sd card on another device my switch forces me to format the sd card before i can use it again (making me reinstall my 200 gb of games on my terrible wifi). Anyways, i was wondering why that may be happening if anyone knows

2. I assume this one is just an issue with the hardware and has nothing to do with the cfw but I've been having issues with my fan. Like, if i play anything for more than 10 minutes my switch starts to sound like a fricking leaf blower. I think it's worse in handheld but idk.

Anyways, these are my two issues, if you have any explanation or solution to these lmk :D
  1. Are you moving the Nintendo folder onto the new device? If yes, do you use a MacOS computer to move the files? If the answer is also yes then we have identified the issue. MacOS applies the archive bit to every file and folder it touches which messes up the Nintendo folder. There wee homebrew apps and other tools which were designed to fix this but since you no longer use CFW, it doesn't make sense for me to recommend them to you. Instead, you will have to use Terminal to fix the archive bit by following this tutorial
  2. I mean it somewhat depends on what game you're playing and the environment but if we exclude CFW, then its definitely a hardware issue
Which firmware update should I download? on the internet there is a site that offers 15.0, 14.1.2 and also 14.12 rebootless update 1,2 and 3.

and when i update do i need to first download and update from my 9.2.0 to 10.0 and then to 11.0 and so on and finally to 14.12 or do i just download 14.12 file?
Any of the 14.2 updates are fine but if you really cannot decide, then just go with the rebootless update 3. Also Nintendo doesn't make us update for example from 9.2 to 10.0 then 11.0 just to go from 9.2 to 11.0 so I don't see any reason why we should have to do the same with a homebrew app.

I believe this is correct.

on a side note, here’s a way to “bulk” add saves using DBI (that is probably quicker):

  • DBI — Capable feature filled and fast installer.

DBI is brilliant until you end up with like 50 games and try to install em all at once and then the 4th game out of 50 fails lol
thats whats happening to me righ tnow

but jokes aside DBI is a really great tool didnt know it also offered saved files

This is so confusing. When connected to Saves via DBi - to which folder should I copy the saves? I have the folders named as games, in those folders are *my account name* folder and bcat folder.
I believe this is correct.

This post says I should Google the save names to figure out the games, but all of my saves are named 00000000000d, 000000000c and so on. Is it correct? Is it ok that some of my save files are 1-2 gb in size? Some of my games are smaller than those saves.

You mean during the upgrade, everything is saved? Ok.

Question, I have never created an account in the OFW. As such, I cannot download the new version (I think).
Is it ok if I use Darthsternie Firmware? and how do I install it in the CFW? Do I just drop it in the root folder of my sd card and then load it from Homebrew channel->Daybreak?? (see Edit #3)

Edit: just updated hekate and atmosphere, all went well and can still load 14.1.2 (Current system version 14.1.2|AMS 1.4.0|E)

Edit #2: Yikes, I get 'the could not start the sofware. Please try again from the HOME Menu' error described above. Never mind that last bit, updating sigpatches and now it works.

Edit #3: To answer my question (adding up from @marhalloweenvt 's input; thank you ;) ), I just created a folder (e.g. 15) in the root of my SD card, unzipped Darthsternie's Firmware there. Turned on my switch in the emuMMC/CFW, then launched the Homebrew channel (holding R and launching any game), tapped Install and navigated to the folder 15-> tapped Continue -> Preserve settings -> Install (FAT32 + exFAT) -> Continue. Then waited until done and Shut down.

Lets pick one game. Any game you’d like. Post title and titleID and we’ll walk through it.

Correct. You can continue to use 90DNS as well. They don’t clash. DNS:mitm does a similar thing but the control for the service is inside your switch rather than a 3rd party.

exosphere blocks your Prodinfo (sets your serial number to all 0s) so even if you were to get to Nintendo you would not be able to communicate due to a bogus ID.

all other network operations outside of Ninty servers will continue to work as normal.

You should be good to go now that you have an emummc. Reboot and see if it goes into Emunand now.
It doesn't :( I also tried selecting the backup option, and it still goes into Sysnand.

What’s your latest iteration of hekate_ipl.ini look like?
This one:

[config]
autoboot=0
autoboot_list=0
bootwait=3
backlight=100
autohosoff=0
autonogc=1
updater2p=0
bootprotect=0
emummcforce=1

[Atmosphere CFW]
payload=bootloader/payloads/fusee.bin
icon=bootloader/res/icon_payload.bmp

[Stock SysNAND]
fss0=atmosphere/package3
stock=1
emummc_force_disable=1
icon=bootloader/res/icon_switch.bmp

Yes, sure, thanks! I found the game names in the NXNandManager, so I can locate the correct save file. For example - Yoshi's crafted world. Here are both numbers
Screenshot 2022-10-19 192903.jpg

Then I have this folder with saves in DBI-established MTP, you can see I've copied the save file via DBI to this location. Should it be working?

And it's not "bulk"like you said, but pretty much one-by-one. Any chance I can simply swap the SAVES folder in emunand?

Move emummcforce=1 underneath [Atmosphere CFW]

emummcforce=1
icon=bootloader/res/icon_payload.bmp

I’m not 100% sure of the location. It looks correct. I assume the directory tree is there only for games that you‘ve installed and played one time on the new setup? Meaning that games you’ve installed but not played yet don’t have this available yet, correct? Your suggestion about copying the /USER/Saves is a great one…I can’t help But think that if it worked like that, how come veryone isn;t doing it like that? There has to be something that screws up. If you are going to try it, either make a backup or be prepared to make a new Emunand.

Yes, correct. I've installed and played Yoshi for a moment. Sorry for the noob suggestion. I meant - maybe I can restore the saves from old emunand to the new one, there's some option named "partial restore" in NXNandManager I've installed earlier with your advice.

Might be quite specific here but basically ive been transferring my games and data from one switch to another following atmosphere installation

Breath of the wild, that is the game I got the switch for wow brilliant game.

On the first console I had a saved game with cheats on there via checkpoint
The cheats were like being invincible, maximum hearts, bows etc really great cheats that helped in the game

Using SCV or JSV (can’t remember) I was able to find a way to export and then import the original saved game
That all works on the new switch

However, I was not able to get the cheats to work on the exported save file well infact on the new switch, link is no longer invicible and has only 4/5 hearts

Anyone got any ideas how I can get the zelda BOTW cheats to work on the new console with the old exported saved file?

Great then that should absolutely be the correct path. I'll try it out on my Switch after work.

Not saying your idea is noobish at all. You might be on to something.

Cheats are going to be under /atmosphere/contents/<gameID>/cheats I believe. See if there's anything there for you.
