incase no one noticed in the 7 pages this has if you are using the nintendont as a wiivc inject that means you start it from wiiu side instead off starting it from inside vwii then its normal that the usb doesnt work, when using nintendont trough the wiiu side (wiivc inject) you can only use sd and not any fat32 usb.

Nintendont only appeared on the vWii side, not the WiiU side. That's how I was using it. Never used Nintendont through the WiiU side. Personally I need to get my vWii working before I worry about the USB issue. Any ideas?

nope, people shoudlt mess with vwii more than they need to hack it for the first time, you could probably still run stuff trough wiivc injection maybe since it skips vwii menu loading and such.

Is there any way to find out what files are missing from the console? Any way to do a diagnostic report?

Could using Decaffinator on the biggest setting make vWii work again or is that just the same as going into Settings and doing a factory reset?

Light mode
This will redownload every essential System Title including all IOS

Aggressive Mode

This will remove EVERYTHING!
Save Data, Installed Channels, ...
Here's a question for you: if the Light and Advanced Mode on Decaffinator isn't fixing the vWii why is this?

Why should it not ? :(
It "recovers / re-downloads" all essential System Titles and IOSes,so a "new" vWii Mode.

If that is not working, you have maybe unfortunately a more serious Issue with the Wii U.....

You can also use the "Force Update" Option - It initiates a System Update for the vWii Mode and also re-download all deleted / non working Titles.

I have tried these Options several Times on my vWii
and it worked as from @GaryOderNichts so foreseen.👌

Yeah I tried all this already. I'm not sure what file is missing that is preventing the vWii being loaded. I wonder if there's a way to diagnose issues on the Wii U?

Ever encounter a black screen before in trying to get to the vWii?

Are you using rednand?
I don't know what that does. I believe you get that through Mocha? I have reason to believe me losing the vWii happened when I started messing around with Mocha FAT32.

As for using Decaffinator @GaryOderNichts I tried Light Mode and nothing. I tried manually through Advanced Mode and nothing as well. If using the Gamepad with the TV I can get the Wii logo to appear on the gamepad but that's about it. The thing still goes to a black screen.

Did you have unblocked your DNS / Internet Connection ?
https://wiiu.hacks.guide/#/block-updates

Maybe that is a Reason why the decaffeinator Method is not working correctly ?
I'm not sure what a blocked DNS is.

My Wii U console updates every time I use Decaffeinator. VWii mode just goes to black. As I said I'm lucky if I get the Wii logo on the gamepad.

Oh yes,and "garbled" Video Mode because of Forwarder Channel Testing...
But everytime the Decaffeinator repaired it.😉

Did you have previously installed RiiConnect24 maybe ?
I don't remember downloading RiiConnect24 from the Homebrew Channel. All I know is these problems occurred after I used Mocha FAT32.

What is strange:

- Decaffeinator is a Wii U App that "downloads" everything missing / deleted into the vWii Mode.
So it should be of no matter,in which "Condition" the vWii Mode is it in..
- So maybe the "Key" to your Issue is something with the CFW Loading / Method ?

I remember not really correct, but you said, you use Mocha (CFW) Method ?
How is your exact Bootorder / Procedure from powering on the Wii U to go into the Homebrew Launcher and launch Decaffeinator please.:)

You said, you ALWAYS booted NINTENDONT from the vWii (Homebrew Channel or from the USBLoader GX).
Correct ?

Is it maybe possible (somehow) as @pedro702 already mentioned,
you have installed the Nintendont Forwarder / Channel on the Wii U Main Screen ?

Can you maybe please make a Screenshot from all your Wii U Menu Icons / Folders please ?

Thank you.:)

Ok,that seems working.😉
I did get a bit confused when the instructions said to reboot the WiiU because I was in a bit of a panic but anyway it made little difference. Tried Light and Advanced Options mode but no success. I think I tried Force Update as well although I could try again.
