Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp delayed following "recent world events"

adedat.png

Nintendo has pushed back the release date of Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp, previously scheduled for launch next month. The reason for the delay was, "in light of recent world events", and sees the remake being delayed indefinitely for now. Nintendo says to stay tuned for a new release date. The game was already delayed once before, having been originally set for a December 2021 launch.

Seems like an excuse to delay it (it happened way too much with Covid and most of the time it was just people ditching their responsibilities/commitments), but I've never cared much about this franchise so w/e.

Cool to see Nintendo is reviving a GBA series.

Every new "world event", a new easy excuse for lazyness.
I really doubt this game isn't done at this point. It's a remake of 2 simple GBA games and already faced a delay.

I think it's a bit silly for a cartoony war tactical RPG to be affected by what Russia is doing. But I respect the decision all the same, it's certainly in line with Nintendo's values in general.

I don't think it's laziness at all, It's just not the best time to promote a game about war special operations.
I know, it's a cartoony game with a light hearted story, how sensitive can you be? Well many are quite sensitive right now.
The original Advance Wars 1 + 2 are still the best versions anyway.

It’s probably because it’s a war strategy game. It wouldn’t really be a good thing to release something that’s too close to something happening in the world.

It’s not really uncommon behavior in Japan. There’s been so many episodes of Pokémon that were delayed or completely scrapped due to events being extremely similar to what happens in said episode.

But yeah, this just seems like development is not going good, since it’s made by a third party that’s not connected to the original game’s developer. Between the animations and lack of gameplay, makes me believe that it’s going to broken whenever it comes out

I think what they meant is that they think it's 'too soon' to release a game about invading armies.

Coincidentally, according to Wikipedia, supposedly the original AW got delayed in EU/JAP by 9/11.
Why do we only care now? Foreign countries invading other countries is nothing new, yet people were okay with it back then, but not now.

Very hypocritical and double-standard.

I've always been against govts invading countries.
