Delayed once in order to "fine-tune" the game, and a second due to "recent world events", Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot camp should have been out two days ago, but is currently delayed indefinitely. Despite that, it looks like there's someone out there that's gotten their hands on the full game. A Twitter user by the name of killetheth claimed that their copy of the game, which had been pre-loaded "prior to what happened" was playing normally, as if it had actually been released. They posted a screenshot from the game using the Nintendo Switch Share function, meaning it was uploaded directly from the Nintendo Switch console, and also recorded 30 seconds of footage from the tutorial chapter.

According to killetheth, Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp was suddenly playable as of April 9th on their Switch Lite, after having pre-loaded the digital copy before the delay. Normally, when a game is about to launch on the Nintendo e-Shop, it becomes possible to pre-load the title around a week in advance. In this case, the game was delayed on March 9th, leading to confusion surrounding the matter, since it shouldn't have been possible. The user went on to explain that it was only playable on the Nintendo Switch Lite, and they couldn't get it to download or show up on their main Switch.

Currently, it seems like killetheth is the only one who has managed to load up and actually play the game.

Elden Ring probably.

Same reason they got cold feet and probably delayed BotW2 until next year. That and/or they wanted to add some improvements in the game so it does not become forgotten or "more of the same" experience. Nintendo might actually have to put some effort into their stuff again.

I'm sure many recall the first was released 9-11 and was due to release shortly after in other countries, but was delayed...

Release date & Other distractions such as world events and other popular games released the same day or just before, can and will squash sales making the release anti-climactic and quickly forgotten, by the majority.

The game (although I love it, still have both originals on GB Micro) doesn't have the largest following to start with (for what reason I'm unsure).

I'm sure they want to max. the sales and public image of the game...

I'm not exactly an expert in sales but they are much like a joke, timing-is-everything.

...You do know that a game as largely anticipated as Elden Ring is going to have lasting appeal for more than a few months right? Its already being considered a "game of the decade" type of game, and honestly given the wonderful examples of other big name games coming out in recent years, its actually refreshing to see a game live up to the hype it was building and not be a pile of broken trash.

Knowing Nintendo they simply do not want to be anywhere near its popularity cycle as it would have overshadowed anything else it would have tried to release at the same time. Its not that hard to understand or believe, and this shit happens all the damn time in the media industry whether it be games, music or especially movies.

If it was me, as soon as I realized it was playable I would have immediately put my Switch into airplane mode and delete all my wifi networks. And then done whatever it took to dump it myself or contact someone with more experience to do it for the community.
