Last time I updated my Switch was ~1 year ago and I forgot how to do it. Don't care about on-line nor things like tinfoil. Currently I have a 10.0.1 system with AMS 0.13 and use fusee-primary to launch. I've read around here (and tired to jog my memory) and I have a plan to update. Just want to make sure it's not something that would f-up my switch. Download the latest 0.20.1 atmosphere, download the latest sig-patches from the thread here put both things in the same folder and transfer its contents to my switch's SD card (I guess overriding what's currently there), launch with the latest fusee-primary and then use choidujournx to update to firmware 12.1.0. Is all of that correct, am I missing something?

So I'm switching and from SXOS to Atmosphere and I'm having a number of really odd issues.

First I was trying to use Lockpick_RCM, but I got an error which I discuss here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/error-trying-to-use-lockpick_rcm.593681/

So, I'm a tad confused, I set up an emuMMC, at least as I understand it; but the launcher looks exactly like it did before (except for changes brought about by updates). It even has all of my saves from before the change. I figured a fresh NAND would basically be like a factory reset.

Next I tried to use Awoo Installer, upon launching it gave the warning about applet mode. I was following a guide on installing games remotely over LAN. First issue, the system became unresponsive after sitting with Awoo open for about 5 minutes. Screen went black and I had to power cycle. I was trying to follow a video guide to do all of this, on the video they used NS-USBLoader to install games over wifi. The issue is on the video their NS-USBLoader has a Tinfoil option, mine only has Awoo and Goldleaf. I was unable to to install anything, NS-USBLoader was asking me to for a website for some reason. I was unable to get Awoo to launch on top of another app by holding R when launching something. I thought it might have been because I didn't actually have anything installed yet, so I tried to putting a an actual game in, but I kept getting errors from 2 different games several times. So I transferred an NSP game to my MicroSD card and installed it using Awoo. But once again holding R while trying to launch the game didn't work as instructed. Also the game didn't launch and was telling me I needed to log into my Nintendo acount...so I guess playing backups isn't working either.

So now I'm at a loss.

I did follow a video but also a bit from https://switch.homebrew.guide/emummc/emummc.html and here https://www.cfwaifu.com/switch-emunand/

thanks, but just as i thought i did this to late and it turns out i did get banned, so now i dont think i even need it
Well emuMMC is also useful as a brick shield for your sysMMC as well as allowing you to be on higher firmware versions without updating your actual console.

All of those steps are correct except when it comes to using ChoiDujourNX. There is a better replacement for updating the firmware and that is with the homebrew application Daybreak. It comes bundled with the latest versions of Atmosphere so you do not need to download it separately.

I don't understand why guides have users dump keys. If you already have an eMMC backup, then you can already recover the console from 99% of all bricks without the keys. Switch keys are more useful for unpacking Switch content for dataminers, modders, etc. Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much about dumping your keys unless you don't have an eMMC backup which you should have.

As for issues with Awoo, newer versions of NS-USBLoader added Awoo as an option so as to not confuse users with the original Tinfoil which Awoo is based off of. Also in order to use NS-USBLoader, you need Java installed into your system which may have been the website prompt you were seeing. And regarding all of the other errors trying to install games or trying to hold R over a game, you need special patches. Those can be found in the pinned thread on this forum.

Ok so I got the sigpatches and put them on my SDcard, but not a whole lot changed. The game I installed last night is still saying I need to log in. But while I was messing around with things I saw in Awoo that there is a thing to install sigpatches...but once I did that now Atmosphere won't launch without an error, "Failed to apply 'nosigchk'!", but hitting power lets Atmosphere launch. I also noticed that the sigpatches are not for the latest firmware. Did I miss something; has it not been updated or do I need to roll back my firmware? are there sigpatches for 12.1.0 yet? I also tried the Sigpatches updater, but that doesn't appear to do anything. Any option I chose told me "Couldn't download the archive".

I did appear to getNS-USBLoader to actually try to transfer files, but I get to the Installing **** *** over local network, but no status bar and after several minutes it errors out with: "failed to install **** ***! Partially installed content can be removed from the system settings applet. PerformRequest:93: Failed to retrieve HTTP Header: Couldn't connect to server."

Also, I'm still unable to launch the homebrew menu by holding R and launching an application. It's doing the same thing I said it was doing in my first post.

Thanks for the help.

***Edit***
So after getting the proper updated sigpatches NSPs appear to be working.

***Edit #2***
So by loading Atmosphere by using the Fusee-Primary in Hekate I was able to get the Title Override (holding R to launch homebrew app) to work for some reason.
Also, I've been able to get NS-USBLoader to transfer files to my system. I had to, and I don't know why this was never mentioned anywhere, go into the settings in NS-USBLoader and click on the Install drivers button in the top right corner. Still no luck with LAN transfers.

SOOoo.. Never touched my Switch in about ten months Now that I have changed my pants after figuring out my Switch is not dead (Flat battery AND stuck in RCM) I am back up and running.
here is the thing. the last time I updated the Firmware was when the cart-slot also received an update that I chose not to do. I get the expected cart-slot error, should I update the cart-slot before I try updating the system?
I have a full 32gb sys backup but would rather not touch it

hello anyone there?
as long as your phone dose not format the card it will work

Some time ago in the 10.x or 11.x timeframe...

...I swear I was able to modify the splash screen that pops up after you click and game and select player so right before it launches the game.

It's the animated splash screen with Licensed by Nintendo in the upper left and an animated Nintendo Switch logo in the bottom right.

Does anybody recall an app or tut that can change this screen? I've searched the forums with no luck at all.

Alright I've been having this problem for a while now and it really bothers me because I really want homebrew on my switch and since I have not found anything after browsing through the internet for a solution I am gonna ask here.

Basically what's happening is that my switch is not getting recognized while it is in RCM mode. Before anyone tries to give me the normal solutions, I have tried 3 different cables that can actually transfer data, I have tried a different OS and a different Computer, surprise surprise none of them worked. My switch gets recognized by the pc perfectly fine as long as it's not in RCM. I have kept an eye on the device manager while plugging in the switch but there was nothing, also looked into zadig to see if I can find it there, but also no luck. I got everything else prepared, sd card TegraRCMsmash, all of the payloads everything. It would be really nice if someone could help me with this problem as fast as possible.

Is exfat still dangerous?(with the new atmosphere release) I don't use any cfw things besides goldleaf to install my physical carts as digital but I've been using exfat for like 2-3 years without issue.

Secondly,when following this guide:
https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/extras/transfer_sd/

Can i just copy everything which is on the visible paritition of the new sd card once the emummc partition has been restored?

Are you sure your Switch is unpatched? You can check your serial number here: Switch Informations by serial number - READ THE FIRST POST before asking questions | GBAtemp.net - The Independent Video Game Community
If it is unpatched have you installed the driver in Windows to connect to the Switch (done from TegraRCMSmash if I recall correctly)?

I think the problem with ExFAT is in HOS and not Atmosphere so it is still better to use FAT32.
Yes you can copy everything from the visible partition to the new SD card.

Yes. Of course I have checked if my switch is unpatched, and yes it is unpatched. I did install the driver on all the devices I tried it on also, even if the switch was patched, the pc should be able to recognize the switch in RCM mode. It just can't receive payloads.

You can try to use Zadig to troubleshoot it.
