If I buy a second hand white boxed Nintendo Switch and that person upgraded the firmware, is it still possible to hack the Nintendo Switch? I want to buy a second hand Switch and I'm not sure it is hackable. The device is from 2017.
The firmware version is irrelevant. The flaw that we exploit to hack the Switch is in hardware and cannot be patched. Check the serial number of the Switch against this to see whether it can be hacked or not: Switch Informations by serial number - READ THE FIRST POST before asking questions | GBAtemp.net - The Independent Video Game Community

Lets say, i want to upgrade my SD Card. Moving all Files / Folders to the new works without a problem.

But i want to install a lot of new games at once, is it possible to install these directly onto the card, while bypassing the switch completly? I saw that there is a way for the old 3DS, so i could avoid slow I/O, network transfers and so on and do all the work on the PC. Maybe by extracting nsps with some sort of tool?
Unfortunately, there is no such tool for the Nintendo Switch because the tickets for the installed game have to be installed into the internal memory of the console.

Will I get banned if I switch off the WIFI when playing pirate games and switch on when playing real cartridge?
Thank you in advance!

You need to seperate your NAND, emuNAND for you pirated/homebrew stuffs, and Sysnand for online if you plan to play online.

Thank you for your reply! I have some more questions before I start:
- Is emuNAND = emuMMC? (I am reading emuMMC section at switch dot homebrew dot guide, sorry I can't post link)
- If nintendo bans my emuNAND, will it affect my sysNAND? I mean can I just forget all those restrictions and create a new emuNAND like nothing has happened?
- If I went through all those hacking procedures, can I boot my switch w/o SD card? I'm afraid that my switch will brick if the SD card is broken.

Emummc is Emunand, if you get ban on one nand you get banned for the whole system. CFW requires SD card, you can learn to use Hekate SD mounting features so you don't have to take out the SD card.

Well thanks lacius.
Update: My switch is freeze same on config or more games. This time with select Game and R to access complete homebrew.

So, searching in internet: deleted cache and every Game tested in any trouble but nothing.

Do you have the ES, FS, & Loader patches on your SD card that are used to launch backups?

Hey buddies, I have a problem, yesterday I installed some games without with Tinfoil, 5 minutes later I tried to install other game via USB, but Tinfoil show me this message “Failed to write to placeholder! This is usually caused by not having enough space on the SD card or Nand.It is also caused by corrupted exfat SD”, but I have enough space in my SD and in my switch I Have 1.5 GB, I can play my games, I only cannot install more games. All the others installer can’t install games too.

Any solution? Or I have to format my Sd card?

I wanna get another switch again but I also want the capability to easily gen Pokémon without relying on a bot or something. Would the best option be to just buy a new Switch to play on legitimately, and another old one from Ebay to install CFW on, or just buy one and install a mod chip? Is it possible to gen mons with a single modchipped system and then use the same system to play online with emunand or something? And is there any difference between a modchip and just and old exploitable switch other than the old one not having the better battery life etc?

To me it is best to use one unit to gen and one unit to play online, the modchip just make it more convenient to load CFW.

alright, I don't rly ever plan on using CFW on the main system so I'll just get one used v1 switch and do the normal tegrarcm or whatever it is now for that and another new v2 or oled for everything else

I was trying to set up my emuNAND, (even tho its probably to late at this point), I followed a guide and I got my emunanad set up, but when I go into "launch" I only get this "atmosphiere fss0 sys, Stock sys". in the video guide his launch had cfw sysnanad, cfw emummc, stock sysnand. when I check my system settings my firmware version has an |S. what did i do wrong ? if anything?

What guide did you follow? Also don't follow any video guides as they are outdated the moment they are published and not made by any trusted people.

Well the first guide you followed should have been sufficient. At any rate, the issue is related to your hekate_ipl.ini file which displays the boot options when selecting "Launch". If you want those same boot options that you saw in the video, you either have to make them yourself or download a pre-configured hekate_ipl.ini file with those boot options which you can find here.

I did follow a video but also a bit from https://switch.homebrew.guide/emummc/emummc.html and here https://www.cfwaifu.com/switch-emunand/

Last time I updated my Switch was ~1 year ago and I forgot how to do it. Don't care about on-line nor things like tinfoil. Currently I have a 10.0.1 system with AMS 0.13 and use fusee-primary to launch. I've read around here (and tired to jog my memory) and I have a plan to update. Just want to make sure it's not something that would f-up my switch. Download the latest 0.20.1 atmosphere, download the latest sig-patches from the thread here put both things in the same folder and transfer its contents to my switch's SD card (I guess overriding what's currently there), launch with the latest fusee-primary and then use choidujournx to update to firmware 12.1.0. Is all of that correct, am I missing something?

So I'm switching and from SXOS to Atmosphere and I'm having a number of really odd issues.

First I was trying to use Lockpick_RCM, but I got an error which I discuss here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/error-trying-to-use-lockpick_rcm.593681/

So, I'm a tad confused, I set up an emuMMC, at least as I understand it; but the launcher looks exactly like it did before (except for changes brought about by updates). It even has all of my saves from before the change. I figured a fresh NAND would basically be like a factory reset.

Next I tried to use Awoo Installer, upon launching it gave the warning about applet mode. I was following a guide on installing games remotely over LAN. First issue, the system became unresponsive after sitting with Awoo open for about 5 minutes. Screen went black and I had to power cycle. I was trying to follow a video guide to do all of this, on the video they used NS-USBLoader to install games over wifi. The issue is on the video their NS-USBLoader has a Tinfoil option, mine only has Awoo and Goldleaf. I was unable to to install anything, NS-USBLoader was asking me to for a website for some reason. I was unable to get Awoo to launch on top of another app by holding R when launching something. I thought it might have been because I didn't actually have anything installed yet, so I tried to putting a an actual game in, but I kept getting errors from 2 different games several times. So I transferred an NSP game to my MicroSD card and installed it using Awoo. But once again holding R while trying to launch the game didn't work as instructed. Also the game didn't launch and was telling me I needed to log into my Nintendo acount...so I guess playing backups isn't working either.

So now I'm at a loss.
