As was mentioned in the clothing thread the other day I have a tendency to be set on fire so anything that is not going to melt onto my skin in that scenario. That does exclude most common clothing plastics, which also have a tendency to trap sweat, bacteria and otherwise stink, as well as be a pest to sew back together when I slide down the road or run through the woods snagging branches as I go, so I avoid those for those reasons as well.

This typically means I will go for natural fibres. Usually skip wool because it is too warm and too prone to static electricity (that being bad when you fix electronics and also static sparks add to the being set on fire thing). Cotton cloth and linen cloth then become options. Skins do as well be it sheepskin or various leathers (kangaroo is generally held as the best among motorbike types, though it is expensive).

The less common clothing plastics, usually designed to be set on fire then get an appearance in this. Nomex being a trade name for one of those.

I prefer Chainmail Everything.....Shirts, pants, underwear....and No animals died to make them.

Animals are used in mines and seldom survive, not to mention you can carburise the thing in animal charcoal or fats afterwards to give it that extra bit of hardness.

The animal was already dead, I didn't kill it

Also I don't buy fur that often because it's barely ever that cold here
