My switch will no longer boot into stock, either by powering on or by launching it through Hekate after restoring a backup through Hekate. It will boot emummc though. I’m thinking the only solution is to restore an older backup and see if that works but these backups were made when my switch was on a lower firmware. Is there a way to restore an older nand and update the firmware without Nintendo to avoid getting banned? Or am I already screwed?

Well you have to restore your backup if you want the console to work, ban or otherwise. But did you update online? If yes, then you will have to update offline. Otherwise, you can just update normally.
