One of the most sought-after delisted games is coming back this year, in not just digital form, but physical as well. Ubisoft and Limited Run Games are teaming up to release a boxed version of the game for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders will go live on January 15th, with three different versions being available: the regular edition, the Classic Edition, which comes with a classic clamshell case, map, and soundtrack, and the KO! Edition, including everything from before, a guide book, an enamel pin, trading cards, a special collector's case, guitar picks, drumsticks, and even a release of the soundtrack on not just CD, but cassette as well. Those interested will want to lock their pre-orders in as soon as possible on January 15th, at 10am ET.

And just so we're clear, it DOES come with a physical cartridge of the game in the case, right? RIGHT? I'm just skeptical, because the cart isn't pictured anywhere, and I didn't know that random-ass people have access to make Nintendo Switch cartridges.
I think LRG does print carts. We're not talking about Capcom here.

How come xbox is not getting a physical release?
limited run company cant release xbox games, becuase xbox minimum units for physical releases is 10000 which no limited print company will do since they at max make 5000 at best.but who knwos maybe they think they can sell 10000 copys on xbox one alone this time? i doubt it but its up to them.

limited run games arent random ass peoples lol check their website, they make physical releases of indie games and many other stufff, their entire porpose is making phsycial discs/games that are for preservation that dont need online even to start to play, they also include all patches at the time of release on disc/cartridge if available.

LRG has been doing this for years. They're notable for their cause of preserving games that wouldn't be otherwise, and they also try to wait for day 1 patches and such so they can be already applied to the cart release without need of servers or downloads.
I totally get that and respect that. I love it. I just don't know how they can make carts in nintendo's cart factory. Does that mean anybody can make switch carts of say, homebrew games? I don't understand how they achieve this.

I think that anyone can do it if they have the funds, maybe an official dev kit, and like approval from Nintendo? There's probably more to it than that but LRG obviously worked things out and are a little higher than just any old people.

They are, but they said it'll take some time to happen
Which is shocking honestly, LRG has never released an Xbox game before, but no time like the present I suppose!

I love when companies include all these physical goodies with their special editions, but as I get older I find myself just cluttered by all of it, and it inevitably ends up in a box somewhere, never to be seen again. Just part of growing up, I suppose
Yeah as awesome as this is and as much as I enjoy this game, I just got done selling a couple of my special edition games on eBay. Plus my savings account took a beating over the last year, so I think I'll be sticking with a standard digital download this time around.

my trick is to buy two special editions, and when they get here, sell one of them on eBay and that makes the other one free lol
LRG collector's editions always hold like 2x the cost you paid, so it's a smart strategy

Extra bonus, it’s an SA1 pose but with JP Genesis Sonic game boxart background!
Correction: Mega Drive

I'm used to the name Genesis, but when it comes to the country of origin gotta call it by the console it was made for.
