Restoration project for the English release of Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal.
XSEED is well known for inserting meme translations into their scripts. While Burst Re:Newal gets annoying at places, it is still not as bad as their work on other titles like the Legend of Heroes franchise. Even so, they made many decisions that frustrate fans of Japanese media. This patch aims to undo those changes and bring the experience closer to the original text.
Key Features
1. Script Cleanup and Re-translation
This is definitely not a full re-translation. However, I have fixed about 1000 lines so far and will be updating the patch as I progress through the story. The main focus here is removing the memes, unnecessary slang, localized terms, and lines that were taken way too far.
2. Honorifics and Nicknames Restored
I have restored all original honorifics and nicknames. You will no longer see Katsuragi called "Kat" instead of "Katsu-nee". Standard suffixes (-san, -chan, -kun, etc.) are also back where they belong.
3. Character Speech Quirks
This patch restores the third person speech for characters like Hibari and Ryona. They now refer to themselves by their own names in the English text, giving them back their original personalities.
4. Installation
Unzip the archive into the main game folder and overwrite existing files.
Closing Notes
There will most likely be more changes in future updates as I play through the story, but it will not turn into a complete re-translation.
