Hey.

is there a way to detect if the base game fpkg and the update fpkg are remarried but, of course, before to have to fully process the update fpkg.
I'm not sure of that but of course we need a way to know it because when both are divorced xdddd, we still have to wait until full update is processed....

that's a good question and something I've wondered myself. the only way I know of to know if a update pkg is potentially unmarried to the base pkg is if it errors on the system. beyond that, I dunno. it's probably something to do with the param.sfo if I had to guess.

isn't the fingerprint tied to the passcode? I seem to recall that when creating a pkg before. like this:

I don’t think so, but I’m not at my computer to check.

I’m sure the packages have to have something in common in order to generate. Surely it’s just the fingerprint. Idk, look into it

I uploaded an image of the fingerprint generated by the passcode, but I don't know if that's the same fingerprint. that's the only one I know of. I'll try checking an already made pkg.

yes, clearly both fpkg must have something in common. Some hash, some internal hash, some link, something. But what ?

Dump a game and update, marry them, fpkg them, check em out.

Alternatively: obtain a pkg and update: check em out.

I'm not sure how to check the fingerprint with chk. do I need to check integrity? the base information doesn't seem to tell you much of anything. something is happening when you dump the game at first iirc, because I think even a dumped game (before it's turned into a pkg) will have to be remarried if you have two separate dumps.

btw, @arfgh all fake pkgs have no passcode or what I think is no passcode of all 0's (32 of them). I think it's no passcode, because all 0s on the ps3 = no klicense, which is similar.

pkgs on the ps3 have a klicense as well, but when you build one, you usually give it all 0s. I'm not entirely sure how it all works, but that's in the package.conf with make_package_npdrm iirc.

@godreborn I just checked gun club and it’s update pkg from duplex, integrity check yields nothing. I’m sure there’s a way, but only way to be sure is to download/dump the game and update together or manually repack off obtained from different sources.

thus far, beyond my own dumps, I've only had kingdom hearts 3 require a remarry. most people just upload the same dumps with a different name attached to it, but then there's a rare game. I know that with my dumps, I was trying to save time by dumping just the patch, but obviously, that doesn't work. I redumped them before I knew about duxa. I did run the games through duxa that had that weird gp4 bug. I checked mega man legacy collection 1's update history and information yesterday, and it shows it as being 1.01, so the method I figured out to bypass the need to merge both together worked. legit save works also.

Checking via HXD there are identical shared lines of data from 00002000 to 00002930 I’ll keep scanning....

that's actually the name I thought. thankfully, he's left the remarrying app. that would save a lot of people headaches. I think a lot of people don't realize you need the base pkg even to make an update (probably for the same reason as marrying them together) or to remarry one, so they just install, then delete. very bad move. I keep everything in case I need it later, not necessarily because I should.

I spoke to Chrushev yesterday and there is no known way without just trying to install the pkgs.

Asking around the common consensus is that TitleID or ContentID and a date stamp seem to be the binding factors, so I believe there must be a way, but as yet I haven’t figured it out.

Best thing to do is obtain game and update from same source. Sorted.

of course, of course @KiiWii but see also the fact that the most common is to obtian base game and update from different sources, and even that, sometimes both are married... etc etc.
We need a tool that say that to us without to have to install on the console, is the way.
