Naughty Dog is promoting Neil Druckmann to co-president of the company

After serving as the vice-president to the home of The Last of Us and Uncharted for three years, Naughty Dog has just promoted Neil Druckmann, known for his work on both aforementioned games, to co-president of the company alongside Evan Wells. Druckmann isn't the only one rising the ranks either--Naughty Dog's director of operations, Alison Mori, and programming director, Christian Gyrling, have been promoted to co-vice presidency. Druckmann has been with Naughty Dog since 2004, where his first project was assisting in programming Jak 3, and his most recent project will be his work on the HBO The Last of Us TV adaptation.

We have such an incredible team at Naughty Dog and being able to work alongside each and every one of them is especially meaningful these days. I feel proud of the team when I’m able to recognize their accomplishments and contributions to the studio. Please join me in giving them all a big congratulations!

ND had been shit out tons of shitty game lately. It won't be long before they run all their IP to the ground. And I doubt most people would want to play the 3rd TloU now that they know how their favourite character end up in the 2nd game. Or maybe they really think people would want to play as Abby again, lol.

Fastest selling PS4 game, records shattered, sales through the roof, PS4 consoles flying for those wanting to play the it.

I’m gonna wager that Naughty Dog and Sony see this as their golden goose now, and Druckmann’s promotion is a result of him printing dumpster trucks of money.

Did a lot of players hate it? Yeah.

But it proved that even with people knowing the ending before release, they still wanted to play the game. They wanted to experience it, and to support it. That’s success when failure seemed likely.

The real test of whether this promotion worked or not will be ND’s games sales in the future.
That's a good point. They don't really care about the story of the game or the initial reception as long as it makes them money. Kinda sad to think about, but we'll see what the future holds.

You're forgetting about all that sweet, sweet weeb content. It's hard to compete with the white router.
It feels like Sony forgets that sweet, sweet weeb content these days themselves.
I'm still salty about about how they sat on PSO2 and did nothing for a decade, a MORPG with thousands of hours of content and just waited for Xbox to snatch the game. And judging by history, the only reason FFXIV isn't on Xbox is because how stingy Sony is about cross play. The chat in areas where PS4 and Switch players of PSO2JP can meet still can't interact with each other.
Sony barely marketed Gravity Rush 2 and when it underperformed they shut down the online features after just a year of release.
The PS Store is notoriously bad in recommending games of relating genre. "You've played Digimon Story? We recommend some Battlefield 1 with that".
I don't even care about the censorship. What I care is that the company that helped localizing my most fav JRPG of all time, Grandia, probably wouldn't even acknowledge it exists nowadays. It really makes me super unenthusiastic about their consoles if that's how they approach games from their home country.

Oh yeah and to add something on-topic. I wouldn't be surprised if this is foreshadowing for TLOU2 winning multiple categories @thegameawards.

tlou2 is currently #1 for the game awards players choice award, but i guess thats "rigged" too, huh? ;P
considering that you can use multiple account to vote for the same game, I wouldn't be suprised if someone made a bot to boost one specific game.

especially when you see how some tlou fan act on twitter...

2020 was bland af in term of games, none of the games in the list were impressive or anything

so yeah tlou2 could win with or without cheats

the mental gymnastics is incredible
i'm not sure how people can't just accept the fact that people liked the game

Sure people can like the game, but the backlash didn't come from nothing. In the PS store it had like 1200 5 stars before release and same for metacritic.
TLOU2 isn't as bad as many say it is, but it still falls behind other games in the same timeframe.
imo most critics about the story are valid points and hinder the experience I had with the game, but it is still enjoyable, maybe a 6 or 7/10.
Pretty sure when there will be a LOU3 they won't sell as much as they did before.

With all that and what they did with copyright on youtube etc. it still feels a bit strange when such a news pops up, or with the game awards or what it was.
In conclusion just saying I understand why people react the way they do and why they are salty

... If you're going to play a Video Game written with the same drivel that most Western TV Shows are, then expect to have the next Seasons play out exactly the way they do.

If pushing an all-inclusive agenda isn't part of what you call entertainment then the question would be why you'd go out and buy a Video Game with the same intent in the first place; this story plot didn't happen overnight and it's not exclusive to this Genre.

Edit: story plot instead of plot; figured it might be misunderstood.
