Hi quick intro: I have been gaming since Sega Saturn. Also build desktops as a hobby, love PC games. Most are on Steam, and I have over 200 OLD game disks including Sega Saturn 1996, Dreamcast 2001, Original Xbox (forgot the date) Xbox 360. All disks.
I changed to PC gaming as it's a lot of fun tweaking and upgrading. A hobby that teaches tech. I no longer have any of my console except Dreamcast. The others all died after heavy sustained use.

I am a Brit 48 years old. My first ever game was original black and white coin op Space invaders, I was a wee boy then, but I was hooked. Still am!

Finally, I am amazed I didn't find this site before. It's comprehensive, knowlegable members. A great source. I found it when trying to get some tips on how to use CPU threads better in Crysis "remastered."
Or "unmastered." I will do a bit of tweaking with the game files which I have done plenty of in many games.

That's all for now. Thank you very much Admin, Mods, and all members. Great site!

Welcome to the party! Sounds like you joined the site similarly as I did, following google searches for advice. I think it was after a year of being continuously redirected to the site for various tutorials that I was like "maybe I should actually make a profile?"

Anyway, warm welcomes, the buffet is free, beware the EoF, restroom's in the back, don't eat the soap, yada yada. We hope you enjoy your stay. :grog:

Welcome! Hope you have fun here, especially if you're a fellow donkey... :)

Funny you should say that. I mentioned that I'm British, but I didn't mention that my home "island," is one of the channel islands between U.K and France. Anyone here who is British is likely to know them, but often when I say where I'm from folks haven't heard of the channel islands.

So, I come from by far the best one, it is called Guernsey. Pop 60,000. Main business now is off shore banking, the EU relentlessly attack us as there is no capital gains tax, income tax is exemption then 20%. No tiering, a millionaire (and quite a few live there - not me of course) Still pays no more than 20%. Almost no corporate tax either. There is so much money, in banks from all over the world that even with the minimal taxes (almost forgot no VAT/sales tax) the "government," of Guernsey can do the normal social security, public works etc.

We use pound sterling, the only difference from the UK is that the money looks different so won't be accepted in the UK. We change Guernsey bills to English ones for free at the airport. However especially in summer you will see many bills/notes from the U.K. They are the same after all but bear no resemblance in appearance and that's it.

Ah DONKEY, got side tracked. People born and raised (locals) are commonly refferred to as "Guernsey Donkeys."
It originated hundreds of years ago, lost to history except the reason for it.
visitors considered us very stubborn. Nothing to do with good at pleasing the ladies sadly.

I'm not sure what context you mean by calling me a "fellow donkey," but whatever, I like it, and am one - in some ways. Ahem.

Thanks Cearp, your comment made me laugh as having lived in Japan for years, it's been a long time since I have been called a donkey!!

I got carried away, sorry for the rambling on.

I made a very confident guess from your username! Without that they'd be as much chance as the bridge being awarded global shopping district of the year :D
Cool that you've been in Japan for so many years, that must be very interesting.

@cearp

That's amazing. You are the first person outside of the channel islands that knows that. For others Sarnia is a very old name for Guernsey, never used except for dive shops and fishing clubs.
I don't know when it officially changed to Guernsey but we are talking centuries.

Genuinly impressed. Are you from there, or just exceedingly intelligent an knowlegable. I suppose it could be both.
Any way, thank, that made my day.

Sorry for not quoting your post, I am not familiar with this multi quote thing and the way it doesn't seem to auto print the quote if multi or single? Anyhow no prob.
