Hello,

unfortunately I can't reply in the thread I want because of "insufficient privileges to reply"
I have a problem to understand or handle the Nkit software, I try to explain here what I did. I hope somebody can help me here. I was reading the FAQ and the help but I could not do it.

  1. I downloaded the Nkit software and put all in one folder.
  2. I put my nkit.iso file in the C:\temp folder (Kirby's Return to Dream Land)
  3. I checked the redump.org website and download the datfile from Nintendo GameCube (I understand is also for Wii, what I need) and put it in the folder C:\nkit\Dats. There are 3 more folder in Dates, but I put it in dats
  4. Then I open the command prompt from Windows and go in the C:\nkit folder and type the command "converttoiso c:\temp"
  5. The convert starts, but I get an error message
Processing command line and scanning files...
    Found 1 file

As it clearly says (and you correctly understood), you don't have the update partition (which you ought to have dumped from your original copy of the game before removing it... or any other disc with the exact same update), so of course it rejects the result as not matching the o

I know someone on reddit who posted a fully loaded version of NKit, though

But it absolutely should not be necessary for the update partitions to be there for it to be able to make an ISO from the NKit file. It SHOULD put the file in the Wii_MatchFail folder without the update partition. Perhaps there is a command line option to do so, but I was using the GUI...

In the GUI (the "NKit Processing App") there is an option you can unselect labelled "Delete Recover Match Failures." Unselecting that will leave the unverified (most likely working but with no update partition) ISO file in the:
\NKit\Processed\Wii_MatchFail
folder.

Hi @spence_saw,

I think I can help you, as I have now pretty experience recovering old Wii *.wbfs to full ISO (verified by Redump).
First of all, you need "NKit 2020.4.29" FULL PACKAGE (it weighs 14GB aprox.). It has all the partitions that might be missing. Magnet link (use qBittorrent or your torrent client of choice): please see my next post below!
You also need latest Redump DAT file FOR WII (the one you are using is just for Gamecube). The link to the Wii DAT file is: http://www.gc-forever.com/datfile/ (remember you have to rename it to "Redump.dat" and place it in the right folder).
And finally, open NKit with "NKitProcessingApp.exe" and use the RecoverISO option.
VERY IMPORTANT: this DOES NOT ensure that every wbfs you have will be able to be recovered. If the WBFS was created with the "Full scrubbing mode" or with "Allow permanent changes to Wii disc header" or "Allow changes to WBFS disc header" options in the program Wii Backup Manager (PLEASE DO NOT ENABLE THOSE THREE OPTIONS, EVER!), your ISO will not be recoverable. But if you do not activate them, you can convert your ISOs to WBFS and back to ISO without any issues.
Please be free to contact me for more details if you have any doubts...
Regards,
Gabriel (from Buenos Aires, Argentina)

As promised, NKit 2020.4.29 FULL PACKAGE (with all partitions to recover old, incomplete WBFS files). THESE ARE NOT ROMS OR GAMES (please read my former post right above for more details):

And just one minor comment, @spence_saw ....

The original title of your post is grammatically incorrect: it should be "too stupid for NKit ISO conversion" (or something like that). The main error is the missing "o" in "too", which changes the meaning completely! "Too" in that context means "very", "quite", "extremely"...
But please, do not misunderstand me, I am just correcting the grammar of your title, by no means do I agree with the idea! (you are not stupid for not knowing the NKit process)
Where should I send my fees as English teacher? ;-)

so I have to download a 14+ gigabyte file in order to convert just 1 file to another format?

Not exactly. You can choose which file you want download. For instance. I want to convert to ISO a .nkit format game, MiniNinjas for example. For that i need download the update partition named:
9412B8A068E647CB110B7E6F4E926F3D01B5D9EE_N_A222B1A5

I don't found any index to match a file. But Nkit tell you were it not found and give you the ID(?) : _A222B1A5 or any other, for a determinated game. Then you only have to put it in the Recovery/Redump/wii path.

I select the file with utorrent. I think other torrent manager work.

I expect my english is enought clear and give a help for anyone that need it.

@mundodisco

I've downloaded the required update dump and put it into correct file, I see that RecoverToIso.exe loads it but it still fails with the same "missing update partition" message.. Then I downloaded all of the NKit full package (seeding currently) but still the same... What might I be missing?

You're using incorrect database.

Redump databases for Wii and GameCube are different.

I've packed a special NKit version which includes all correct database files. I've quoted this message from this thread https://gbatemp.net/threads/nkitisos-wont-convert-to-iso.559663/ for see the download link:

I got all latest Redump dat files and also all database files from Redump and GameTDB WiiTDB and others and I've packed a zip with the latest version of the tool NKit which includes these databases, ready for use.

I will attach it here:

NKit Tool v1.4 with all latest dat files by saulfabreg.zip

Greetings ;)

Greetings to all ;)

I downloaded Nkit from your link and still the same problems as prior to downloading. I will attempt with the above 14GB NKit version, but so far, no luck.. any ideas?

Thanks!

it sucks to download without the download manager, time to wait 5-6 hrs lol

I've updated the NKit link since I saw there was a file that mustn't be here.
