I am experiencing a weird issue with 5.4.7. Everytime I enter/exit a plugin or a source tier via the source menu, the screen goes black for what it feels like a full second before the transition is made. This doesn't happen with 5.4.7 beta 6, so it has to be something added along the way what's causing this.
I've experienced this too, and reported it to Fledge.
He found out that it was this change:
- now when you have only the front cover image wiiflow will use that platform's custom blank cover image for the spine and back of the cover

Start with a thank you for the continued development of this @fledge68
Setup: 2 partition USB HDD both FAT32 with wbfs files on second partition. Priiloader straight to Wiiflow Lite 5.4.7
Games running fine, usb loading fine.
I'm not sure if this is just me, but I've been having issues downloading covers. The .ini in 5.4.7 wants to look in Wii for Wii titles, gamecube, and channels respectively, but when I placed them in those folders and ran the cache converter in PC they didn't appear.
For troubleshooting I grabbed a single game cover to see where it wanted to be placed from the Wii via WFL.
When I connect the HDD back to pc my boxcovers folder is empty short of the newest cover.
I will mention that 5.4.7 cover download for wiiware didn't just empty the boxcovers folder, but place the wiiware .app titles and the cover in that folder with no subfolders.
Not looking for a fix necessarily, I will just set up the cache and cover folders on the PC so it reads happily on the Wii, but I thought I would mention it and see if others had this issue.
Or maybe I missed something already addressed in this thread.

This turned into a bigger problem when I tried to start an N64 title using not64. The game would load, but upon leaving it went back to the system menu. Then WFL wouldn't start, there was nothing in the homebrew channel. I plugged it back into the PC and this time the entire drive was empty. 100% gone.
EaseUS said the storage was still being used, so I guess the filesystem was damaged?
I ran a repair and some folders came back, but not all of them, and the folder names were messed up.
The resolution:
if your drive is acting weird when you get the Wii, or WFL to add/manipulate files on your external HDD, like folders disappearing, odd renaming of files etc..., use EaseUS and do a surface test (this could take up to 4 hours depending on hdd size). Chances are you have bad sectors. It works on the computer because the computer can mark and avoid bad sectors, but the Wii definitely will not.
Your Hard drive is not completely lost, if you notice the bad sectors are closer to the beginning of the drive, you can partition around it. I don't know quite how the sectors are worked around, but partitioning your drive can render the external HDD still useful if you really don't have another.

I could go on with exactly what I ended up doing, but each hardware issue will be endemic to the user.

I hope this helped, and just TL;DR - if your drive is acting funny, crashing WFL, losing or renaming folders, you likely have bad sectors on your HDD.

Is there a Wii U injection for WiiFlow? I've tried making an injection to launch my vWii Forwarder with Teconmoon's but it can't see my HDD. I've had this same problem trying to create my own Nintendont and USB Loader GX injects. Ultimately, I had to give up and use the official ones. If there isn't an existing injection, is there someone who could explain to me what I'm doing wrong?

USB loaders injected cannot use usb only sd. And cannot launch wii games because they require cios and cios dont work. You can only launch nintendont games and plugin emus

I think I might be asking the question wrong then. USB Loader GX has a launcher that works from the Wii U System Menu. How does this work and is there a way to do the same thing with WiiFlow?

If I remember correctly you have to extract the dol within the forwarder channel and inject that dol into your wii u wii vc channel. Alternatively you can somehow change hbl2hbc so that it launches wiiflow forwarder channel instead of hbc.

I just want to be informative here, I'm not trying to be argumentative. USB Loader GX's Launcher doesn't actually contain an embedded dol. It definitely forwards to the vWii channel forwarder because it has to be installed on your vWii to launch the app from the Wii U menu. I think this setup was done so that you could update the app on your SD card without having to inject a new channel every time there is an update.

I know nothing of hbl2hbc so I can't really speak to that at all but if this will solve my problem and give me a fully functioning easily updateable launcher icon on my Wii U system menu, I would love to learn more.

note: before step 1 you should have the wiiflow lite forwarder channel installed on vwii. if you do not then download the wiiflow channel installer and run it first via the HBC. here it is - http://www.mediafire.com/file/odv5cp3d6hda1pu/WiiFlow_Channel_Installer_v1.1.zip/file

1. go to this thread - https://gbatemp.net/threads/custom-wiiu-haxchi-forwarders-to-vwii-homebrew-all-in-one-guide.477456/
2. download the WiiU2WiiFlowLite.zip
3. extract the zip file to your sd card.
4. find hbl2flo.txt on the root of your sd card. open it and change WFLA to WDFA and save
5. follow steps 3 thru 5 on his Opening Post (which downloads and installs a DS game and installs his modified haxchi into the DS game. now this DS game becomes a wii u channel to launch the wiiflow lite forwarder channel on vwii system menu)

the plus side is cios works which means wii games work and usb hdd should work. in other words wiiflow lite should run normal without the limitations of a wii vc injected game.

Fledge you're amazing. I have a follow up question? Am I going to be able to get online and access the eShop with CBHC and CFW enabled?

Thank you.:)

So I did a poll on Twitter to see what the most popular USB Loader is. Here are the results.

https://twitter.com/riiconnect24/status/1326013827851358209

:D

I think we should make @fledge68 and his awesome WiiFlow Loader/Modification much more popular too, because everyone in the Wii Homebrew Scene knows @Cyan and the USBLoader GX.
And I think, many new Wii Users, which followed the "Guide" only knows about the USBLoader GX...

So this Poll Result is maybe a little too "USBLoader GX - Leaning".:rofl2:
Both Loaders are awesome and have many Features, but they are also different and that is good.

Thank you.:)

doesn't surprise me. I've known for a long time now usb loader gx is more popular. i've seen how many downloads it gets per week and per day.

usb loader gx is easier to setup. the default graphics are more pleasing. even though wiiflow lite and usb loader gx have basically the same settings and options.

But your Wiiflow is still an active project :)
USBLoaderGX has not been officially updated for a long time, and Balckb0x is currently doing his own branch/fork to fix bugs and improve it.

Both are good and share the same settings and options, but wiiflow might be little above for features and fixes.

v.5.4.8 Released!

- removed - now when you have only the front cover image wiiflow will use that platform's custom blank cover image for the spine and back of the cover. committed in 5.4.7 it caused a second of black screen when selecting a source or tier.
- fixed a crash in 5.4.7 when linking a source button to plugins.

also includes platform.ini and dvdskin_greenone.png from plugins pack v5. dvdskin_greenone.png has been renamed dvdskin_greenthree.png - if anyone uses it just rename it back to dvdskin_greenone.png.

@Cyan thank you for the kind words. You are a true gentleman. Your posts throughout gbatemp are always very knowledgeable and well written. You have guided me and many others on everything homebrew for wii and wii u and even the switch a little. thank you!

@fledge68 So glad you've added @Hakaisha 's dvdskin_greenone.png :)
Used with cd jewel cases covers or with my new tape cassette template for Spectrum, it's freaking amazing.
By the way, she recently managed to optimize it, shrinking its size down to around 5KB.
Oh, and if you ever need to rename it to something different from greenone, it won't be a problem for me to update the .ini's in the plugins pack.

you need the priiloader forwarder loader dol - https://www.mediafire.com/file/tj13pbiab8whsgq/Priiloader-Forwader-Loader-DWFA.dol/file

set priiloader to load and start it.
