Because I'm reading the guide and said to compile it on github but first to install dev kit pro to set up the environment to run the scripts
That's no necessary :rofl2:. Just go to Releases section, download the latest .cia, put it on the SD/microSD card and install it on your console through FBI

Edit: Indeed, I will save time for you... Just click here to download the .cia of Universal Updater directly

Also just a random thought does anyone know how to open up Rosalina menu?
Usually is pressing the combo L+Down+SELECT

Hey there!
I am sorry if this question has been asked before - I couldn't find the answer yet.
I've got an old 3DS on 11.2 and am stuck at one point using the 3ds.hacks.guide.
The wireless card doesn't seem to work.
Namely at Finalizing: Setup
Section II - Updating the System

Can I proceed with the other steps of the guide and perform the update afterwards using sysupdate (assuming I will find the current firmware somewhere as a .cia) or using a game cartridge with a higher firmware?

I ordered another wireless adapter at eBay, but it will take three weeks.

Thanks very much!

Why do you say that WiFi card is apparently unworking? Have you checked your WiFi/internet connection and settings to discard a bad configuration/connectivity before to conclude that's a hardware damage? What method have you used to hack your console (SoundHax, USM, or another)?

Anyway, you can update whenever you want. Personally, I don't recommend to you to update through SysUpdater, but always possible. And using a cartridge also is possible, but isn't a perfect way to update after all (because it's well known that doesn't update all system titles), and I don't think that exists a game cartridge capable to update to the latest firmware version (11.13).

Hello fmkid!
Thank you very much for your quick response!
I used soundhax.
The 3DS can't find any access points. I even tried an hotspot with an iphone 4s on iOS 6.xx to rule out it might not find n or ac wireless lan protocol.
The NFC seems to work cause I can play local multiplayer with my other (new)3ds. But that chip might sit somewhere else. I don't know that.

Ok. Your another (new)3ds can detect WiFi connections normally? And, when you try to activate (turn on) the WiFi connection on the problematic console, it shows some kind of error screen or something like that?

You can also try to configure your WiFi connection manually (it's not so difficult). And you also can open your console (carefully) and see if the WiFi card module is perharps not well connected to the motherboard.

But a cartridge with a higher firmware exists. The majority of games will run on 11.2 – while those that came later might boot into black screens.
According to http://www.3dsdb.com/
2524 Kirbys Extra Epic Yarnhas 11.8.0-E (assuming European console since @ReginaldDull has the country set to Austria)

If it was a very low firmware there could be problems, but proceeding with the guide is possible without the update. As GBAtemp's backup reminder I strongly recommend backing up the NAND now (and after an update).

Local multiplayer uses WiFi as well. The old 3DS does not have NFC (and that technology usually has a range within a few centimeters).

You could be right about WiFi n and I'm pretty sure the 3DS family does not support WiFi ac (or 5GHz).

Strange: Local multiplayer working but cannot find access points.

Yes, my other 3ds does show all my networks. But then it is a new 3DS.
When turn on WiFi at the problematic old 3DS it doesn't show any errors.
The card sits tight on the motherboard- I double checked.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I just now tried to activate streetpass- it gave me error code 003-1099.

There's no significant difference between Old3ds and New3ds WiFi type/config/detection ways (afaik... if I'm wrong, please correct me).

And, normally, if there's a kind of problem with the WiFi module, console shows an error screen or it just freeze it.

I really don't know what kind of problem your console have. Then I can't help to you more of that, pitifully. Wait for more speciallized help, then. Good luck!

I am content so far with beeing able to proceed the 3dsguide and find a solution to update the firmware afterwards.
I'll let you now if anything changes once the new WiFi modules has arrived and beeing installed.
Have a great day!

There is newer/better suggested alternatives for backing up savedata of GBA virtual console games? If so, what is it and will it work with games that I injected with NSUI? Checkpoints isn't able to find the GBA VC game, Emerald that is and I can't back up the data with the system software manager.

Thank you!

Thanks fmkid for the suggestion. I spent a good while messing around with GBAVCSM and now, I'm gonna stuck. Are you familiar with the script?

I am trying to extract and replace the savedata file from my injected copy of Emerald from NSUI. However I can't figure how to replace the savedata from within the script of GBAVCSM within gmode9. In the script of GBAVCSM, within "Titles" I am unable to find Pokemon Emerald installed on system. However I was able to backup my savedata including my emerald save from "Misc" > "Backup all saves," but now, I am stuck on how to inject my savedata back into my o3DS. Because I can't find Emerald within the "Title" section? I'm also not quite sure what "Rebuilding cache" means. I looked within "Rebuild Cache" > "Manual" section for Emerald, but I can't figure out what the titleID is for my installed Emerald game or if this is even the right place to look. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. A side note about my Emerald copy, it's in Japanese and the file name was outputted into Japanese as well, but gmod9 couldn't read/write the name correctly. It looked like this ".....?????????," but my computer could see the file and the font correctly.

Hi all, very new to the forum and would really appreciate some help.

I'm trying to follow the steps at 3DS guide CTR transfer (I can't post a link because I'm new to the forum).

I think I need the Old 3DS or 2DS 11.5.0 EUR CTRTranser file. The link leads to a torrent with no seeds. I can't find a download anywhere.

Does anyone have the file or could point me towards somewhere I can download it? I imagine this must come up all the time if people are still regularly hacking 3DS.
