So it's been awhile since I've hacked any nintendo product. The last one I did was on the original wii so I have some catching up to do. Was wondering if anyone could help me out and provide a "how to" for the latest method? I confirmed that my serial number isn't patched so I'm good there. A few questions:

I'm mainly wanting to hack the switch for doing modding in animal crossing like increasing bells and tickets, getting golden tools etc, but how is this safely done without getting banned? Also playing old roms on emulators would be nice. I read that one way of doing the mod was to just download atmoshphere and TegraRcm GUI and put the proper files into the root of the SD card so that there are Nintendo, atmosphere, switch, hbmenu and config folders on the SD card, then setup the driver using the TegraRcm interface on the PC, then access recovery mode using a paper clip, plug in the cable connecting the switch to the PC and inject the payload. Enter album on the switch and access the homebrew menu. Install aps in the homebrew channel. I understand that this is one method, but is it the best method? I read that using a payload bin loader/RCM clip is much better.

1. Does the latest method still require running a payload bin loader/RCM loader/RCM clip each time you want to access the homebrew apps? So currently there's no way to just have the homebrew running all the time safely without risking a ban? Heard something about a dual boot mode, but still unclear on what that is exactly.

2. Za Dig, heckate, Edizon, JKSW, CFW online.... I have no idea what any of this stuff so I'll need to read up on all of it and what it does.

3. Do I need two SD cards in order to keep the sysnand clean and doing hacking on the emuMMC?

4. How exactly is hacking in the emuMMC and keeping the sysnand clean done exactly? What do I need to be mindful of?

5. I've heard of a chip, but is that only necessary for v2 switches?

6. When is it safe to go online with the switch and out of airplane mode? What do I need to be aware of to avoid getting banned? I have no interest in cheating against others in vs mode in mario kart or smash, I just want to get some items easier in animal crossing and play emulated games from older systems on the switch. I plan to only run legit purchased copies of games.

7. Can hacking in animal crossing be achieved with one switch, or is two needed? (one clean and one modded to transfer items to the unmodded switch?)

8. I read about a hack that doesn't cause any small fish to spawn, only big fish. How is this being used without getting banned?

Basically I need a link for a step by step guide on how to hack a v1 switch in order to mod animal crossing and how to do it without getting the system banned. Also since I already have a save file for animal crossing and have been playing it unhacked, I don't want to risk losing the save and I have not backed up the save to cloud yet. I'm not sure how that plays into it all. I'll continue to read the sticky links on this site and get up to speed, but hearing from people that have already done all this would be good.

You can follow this guide, some of the things that you may ask are answered in the FAQ section. There is RetroArch. You need to inject a payload everytime you start the console, this can be done via a "jig" and an injector (Android phones, PC, Mac, and RCM Injector.)

1) Yes and if the dual boot you mentioned meant EmuNAND, yes we have it. There is always a chance to get banned. Look at the guide.
2) Hekate: bootloader. Edizon: Cheat Manager. Zadig: Driver Installer for Windows, is useful with Goldleaf. Just Google them.
3) No, you don't. But you should have 30 gb space on your sd for emuNAND.
4) Use CFW stuff in emuNAND, don't boot in to SysNAND with cfw. And try not to be online on EmuNAND at least without protection (Look at the guide.) or you will probably get banned.
5) You don't need it.
6) Don't be online in CFW and item hacking may get you banned if you do become online afterward. Look at the guide for more info.
7) One Switch is enough. But if you transfer the hacked item from local play without being online to other Switch this may lower thee chance of you getting banned or make the clean Switch banned. Can't talk for sure.
8) Look up.

I don't know much about ACNH hacking but you may check this thread.

So there is no sure way to know if item hacking in ACNH will get you banned or not, even if you did the hacking in CFW when booted into EmuNAND and prevented Switch from communicating telemetry to Nintendo by using 90DNS? What about if you do all this and then performed a NAND backup restore?

So say I make a bunch of items in ACNH that I didn't have and I do this while hacking in CFW when booted into emuMMC and using 90DNS. If I perform a NAND backup restore (or factory reset) and then boot the sysNAND, I'll wind up with the hacked items and STILL have the possibility of being banned during the next ban wave if I play online with those hacked items?

EmuNand and SysNand are 2 separate things. The things that you do on the emuNAND doesn't affect SysNand, this includes save files. If you want to be online with hacked item then you need to cheat on SysNAND. This has a chance to get you banned. Doing a NAND restore would delete the hacked items that you have created.

Ok, then the safest way would be what you mentioned earlier and transfer hacked items in ACNH obtained using EmuNand on a modded switch using a local connection to a switch that hasn't been modded to transfer the items.

It can be safer. Can't guarantee something.
