so i could get banned for adding saves to the switch?, what if i put the cartridge in for the games first then add them, i only need to add splatoon really
I would seriously avoid ANY game that is made by Nintendo that you wish to play online with, and restore a save. They ban people faster than you can blink on Pokemon. So I can't really say that wouldn't do less on Splatoon. Still the save game comes from the wrong profile. You can restore it and it gets converted. But it won't match up with other stuff.

I don't tell you want to do. I just tell you the risks you take. I myself got 3 Switches. 1 legit, 1 for all my dirt and 1 that is in storage.

If you've installed any .nsp, did some hacky/pirate stuff and go online again, a ban is most likely inevitable.
A clean nand could somewhat safe you, if you did your cfw stuff only offline and never connected to WiFi without protection like 90dns or incognito.
It's not the backup which has been blocked or not which lead you to problems. Your serial number will be flagged, doesn't matter if you ran into problems before.
Once you are blocked, you cannot simply restore to a point where you haven't and be safe again. Nintendo would still ban you right away.
if its the serial that gets banned then how does doing a clean backup not get you banned, does it have a different serial?

It not the "serial" that gets banned. It's the whole unit. We don't know exactly what Nintendo ban on it. But your Switch got plenty of unique codes they can identify it with.

Yes, I agree that Cloud Saves should be for ALL games.

I already transfered my splatoon save game manually between two switches multiple times in the past, Didn't get banned for it.
If I remember it correctly, the save game contains an unique ID, which is used to track parts of your progress,to allow the detection of modifications, and it looks like it's the only thing checked, probably because there are also official ways to move the save game from one switch to another.
