If you were worried that March 2020 might be a little too packed for game releases, then you can take one completely off the table. Square Enix has delayed the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake. Fortunately, this delay is a rather small one, pushing back the release date from March 3, 2020, to April 10, 2020. The reasoning behind the delay is so that the developers can "ensure [they] deliver a game that is in-line with their vision". According to the team, this slight delay will give the game an extra bit of polish, which is important, considering how highly-anticipated the remake is.

“We know that so many of you are looking forward to the release of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE and have been waiting patiently to experience what we have been working on. In order to ensure we deliver a game that is in-line with our vision, and the quality that our fans who have been waiting for deserve, we have decided to move the release date to April 10, 2020.

We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience. I, on behalf of the whole team, want to apologize to everyone, as I know this means waiting for the game just a little bit longer.

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be available for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system from 10th April 2020.

I have never been interested in the Persona games, or the Shin Megami Tensei franchise. Cool characters, but not for me.

Just wait for the PC version like I am. No single game is worth buying an entire console for, especially when said game is going to get a PC release eventually.

I would wait for PC. I'm a PC gamer above any console. I'm just so tired of waiting my entire life for a Final Fantasy 7 remake that I'll buy the damn Sony console if it means I can play it.

The only issue being IF IT EVER GETS GOD DAMNED RELEASED!

My father dropped out of school to play Final Fantasy 7 all day, real story, he kept replaying it for years after he first beat it too, it was the first game I ever played, the dude even modeled his life around it. Final Fantasy 7 means a lot to me due to it being the first game I ever played and still to this day shocking me at how good the game is, even when it was released 3 years before I was even born, I think it's accurate to call FFVII a cult classic.

Well at this rate, by the time they actually release the first remake, most people who played the first one will be long gone. Me included.

I was in the same boat as you. except! it actually is still the same battle system. just instead of waiting for your bar to fill, you run around doing small damage instead of just waiting. once your gauge fills, the action stops and you can pick your magic/item/bigger attack. just summons are only for big bosses now, and can't be used in normal battle, so there'll probably be other changes too. I'm guessing there'll be options on how this'll work, but this is what the interviews have revealed. let's hope they didn't change it too much.


*edit* OOO and they added a "classic" mode, where the free-roaming bit is done automatically, and everything pauses when your gauge fills up. so it becomes same as the original. hooray!

...That sounds similar to Xenoblade, actually; auto-attacks dealing essentially chip damage (that can still rack up), whilst waiting for Arts (special moves with various effects depending on positioning, status effects, etc.) to recharge.

Just got an updated email for 1st class edition pre orders. B/c of the delay the new payment deadline is February 28th
for those who pre ordered or fully paid can now give their final consent to keep their orders or not.
