I have a WD 1TB My Passport that is formatted with FAT32. I have been doing a lot of research on this and everything I have fod said that the read from the drive is good but the write is messed up. I tried doing it with IOS 58 and IOS 249 and both don’t work. I tried CleanRip but for some reason it isn’t detecting my drive even though I was able to play games off of it completely fine. I was really hoping to use this drive because online it has worked for others. If you guys need more information please ask I’m pretty new to this stuff.

I just downloaded configurable usb loader and maybe the issue is I don’t have a WBFS partition. I haven’t messed with any partitions yet, just formatted FAT32 on windows. Should I do that?

Edit: A person had the exact same issue I had in an earlier thread, will go through it and report back.

I think you just need fat32, don't format to wbfs as the games run fine on fat32. any game larger than 4GBs, will be wbfs and wbf1.

I believe that that app needs ios 58, which you have to install manually if not on the latest firmware. unfortunately, my memory is fading on what to do if that doesn't work. I think I used my own judgments with what to install (didn't use mod mii) on the wii. everything works though. I did use the tutorial on here for the virtual wii, and everything works there too.

edit: btw, I believe I used that app with cube games, and I read that it needs ios 58 to run correctly.

I think I have iOS 58 installed, but I saw on homebrew browser there’s an installer for it. I will try that out.

Hello,

Do you format your hard drive with this utility ==>http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm

Do you use "wii backup manager" to manage your games ??

A simple copy and paste of your games on the hard disk ==> may not work.

just to try:

put this version of cios d2x as below:

IOS249 [57] (rev21010, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250 [56] (rev21010, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha bug, NAND access, USB 2.0
IOS251 [58] (rev21010, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha bug, NAND access, USB 2.0.

You can always install any version of cios d2x that you think is better.

I formatted my drive using that and I used wii backup manager to put wii games from my PC onto the HDD which worked fine, the issue is that I can’t install the games from the Wii using USBloaderGX.

When installing the cios, Can I just use the cios installer and change the rev to 21010?

Hello,

To install a game on the hard disk with usb loader gx ==> Launch USB Loader GX, once on the main menu, insert a DVD, it will automatically detect the insertion of a DVD, and will open a window for you ask what to do. Click on Install.

You say this:

Yes, change your cios d2x (249 base 57, 250 base 56 and 251 base 58) as I mentioned to you on my previous message. You can always install any other version of cios d2x, if that does not work.

Is USB loader gx up to date?

When I install with USBloaderGX the install bar just stops halfway through, this is evidence of an incompatible drive but I have looked online and others have been able to use it.

I will check if its up to date, I installed it 2 days ago so it most likely is.

Thank you so much for the help! :)

I tried putting partitions on my drive in accordance to what people said on the hard drive compatibility table and I pretty much broke everything B-), 80GB of FAT32 and the rest on NTFS. I put my games on the NTFS partition and when switching over in the menu on USBloaderGX, it detected the partition and showed the volume but when I tried to install a game, it said 0.00GB available. I saw somewhere else somebody got cleanrip working with a FAT32 drive formatted with 1024 units so I'm either gonna try that or install modmii and see if that helps. I'm gonna get it working I can feel it!
