The latest Sonic movie trailer gives us a look at a baby Sonic

While the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie is being made in the west, Japan is marketing the film and dubbing it for their own audiences. They even got their own exclusive trailer, which shows us more of movie-Sonic and his recently revamped design. With music playing from Sonic Mania in the background, Sonic races through a realistic Green Hill Zone, in a short film teaser. Halfway through the video, the footage cuts to a pint-sized baby Sonic who is holding up a flower. Paramount Pictures Japan shared a render of this little creature, primed to take all memes and spotlight away from the current reigning baby character, Yoda. Sonic the Hedgehog will hit theaters in North America on February 14, 2020, and Japan on March 27th.

My Japanese is terrible but it says something like: "now a hero, he started as a baby". I guess we will have flashbacks of baby sonic, not daddy sonic with his baby... but my Japanese is terrible.

A quite close translation IMO. Here is my translation for it:
どんあヒーローだって、はじめはベビーだった。
Whomever the hero is, the beginning/start is a baby.
Or: Whomever the hero is, they always start as a baby.

That said, I'm not a Japanese native speaker or English native speaker. So take that with a gigantic grain of salt.

I made a gross face while watching, not sure why. definitely in the "tried too hard to be cute" category for me.

I wonder what the japanese dub for jim carrey sounds like. Now I'm wondering what ace ventura pet detective sounds like in japanese dub.

Really hoping this film is a full on dumpster fire as some expect. Too many Hollywood blockbusters are decent to flat out boring these days. Lord knows that they can't be great anyone so just aim for the bottom. I can't remember that last time I watched a Hollywood film that came out being legitimately tone deaf levels of horrific. Maybe Venom, but even that was fairly boring for the majority of the runtime.

As I said in the other thread, they wouldn't be making this movie if things like The Smurfs and Alvin and the Chipmunks hadn't made millions upon millions of dollars. In the end, they know – or at least think they know – exactly what audiences are willing to pay for, at least for now. If people here aren't willing to pay for it, then we are clearly not the audience.

Even Pixels grossed over $200 million internationally. Freakin' Pixels, with a 16% rating on Rotten Tomatoes!

Have you been following the reviews of Cats at all? I was kind of tempted to go see it out of morbid curiosity. But apparently the version that went out to theaters initially had brazenly unfinished CG and they've already put out a replacement.

That... doesn't look good. It honestly reminds me way too much of the manhog sonic (the older model).

Guess they couldn't resist sneaking in some heavily focus-tested bullshit after all.
