How did GBAtemp change/affect your life?

GBATemp was the first real online community I ever joined... I was pretty damn lonely when I came here but right off the bat I met some of the greatest friends I’ve ever had (okay they are THE greatest <3) and I am so grateful for it. Found a sister and plenty of brothers who actually are real people and the Temp was why that happened... that’s it I guess!

Helped me get through bullying. I went to a school that believed that your opinion was nonexistent. Some of my favourite stuff I had to keep to myself because they would kick my ass if my opinion wasn't their's, the brak show and digimon were my favourite shows, still are, but I had to keep those to myself.

GBATemp let me express my opinions. And I can't thank them enough for that. And to the following people, @MicmasH_W, @alexander1970 and @VinsCool, thank you for making me feel like a part of the website. :)

When I was broke asf GBA Temp changed my life by showing me how to install homebrews on my Wii. I used that knowledge (plus other knowledge I'm not allowed to share here) to keep paying rent while still playing newly released games!

THANKS GBATEMP!!!!!! :yaywii:

It's mostly a place that has helped me a lot on using homebrew back in the DS days and then a decade later when I bought a 3DS on a whim. I don't think I ever made lifelong connections here but that's mostly on me as I'm someone who's rarely available for interacting and getting to know people online.

Yet, if I'm to be honest:
This community is the best I have seen on the web.
I might just agree with this. I mean, I've been to this place over a decade before and I actually think it might be better now than it was then. Mostly everyone is friendly and a lot of people are helpful. Discourse is usually friendly and there are plenty of people doing awesome stuff. I don't think I ever saw an internet forum - such a dying breed - hold up so well as this one has. It's truly admirable.

I get a reliable, up to date source for hacking and emulation on handhelds, without some twit yelling "AUROZETT" on every post for a straight year. Trained chimps could do a better job of moderating a forum than Wololo does.

Also, back when GBAtemp actually was about the Game Boy Advance, you guys did me a solid by promoting that GBA port of GORF I made... (counts on fingers) ten years ago?! Dang. Well anyway, thanks for that.

I remember that port of GORF, it was very well done. Now that you’ve reminded me, I may just have to dig it out and have another play.

Don't forget about the braindead fools that comment FIRST on every post there.

I wouldn't say this site has changed my life, I do enjoy that staff here are super relaxed, like most can tell when you're screwing around or actually whining about something and the rules aren't as up tight I guess. I just like how most can take a joke here and not get their panties in a twist over it. It's nice to find other people to talk to about tinkering with old consoles late at night. It's just good to see an active community such as this one.
