The Outer Worlds will be getting story DLC next year

header.jpg

Obsidian's The Outer Worlds released back in October, mixing space-faring adventures with action-RPG combat and gunplay. The game did well, both critically and commercially, and was nominated for four different categories during this year's recent Game Awards. Though Outer Worlds did not manage to win any accolades, Obsidian quietly snuck an announcement onto their forums after the show, announcing that DLC is planned for the Outer Worlds, and will release sometime next year. There's no details as to what the additional content will be, besides the fact that it will expand upon the game's story. For those who have not been able to try the game out, it'll be arriving on the Nintendo Switch early in 2020.

At first I really liked Outer World's a lot, but after finishing the game I realised that there really wasn't all that much content in the game and that the story was way too linear. Not sure if I feel like continuing the game even if a bit more content is offered in DLC.

I actively searched for things to do and still couldn't really find all that much to do if I recall correctly. Maybe I missed things or maybe I was just expecting more. Trophies however is not something I care too much for.

This was my biggest gripe--especially as it was an Obsidian game. It feels like all the pieces are there for a spectacular game, but it kinda ended up being bland, too heavy-handed, and lacking in all the things I want from a story-based ARPG. It was good, but I wonder if it was developed by a skeleton crew, because it doesn't seem like it had all the quality that a typical major Obsidian RPG does. (Boring perks, interesting world, but bland characters, binary choice in conflict resolutions, all opposite from something like Fallout: NV/PoE/etc)

I completed the game a few weeks ago.Its kinda short, but the choices where spot on for a rpg and the science weapons are fun to use.Dlc with more content will hopefully fill in the spaces along with a third person mode.

Well, then it's surely a good thing that opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one.

Upcoming DLC was obvious, given that there are three inaccessible planets on the map. The game was executed very well, but indeed rather short. I think I finished it in around 13-15 hours, and that included doing every side quest that was thrown at me. Might have missed a few tho.

Thts not an opinion mate- someone may think it's average but to say randomware for this game is plain stupidity

I'm angry at myself, I read this thread as "Outer Wilds" and was immediately confused about how it was linear.

Who's fucking brilliant idea was it to have two games, with similar themes, with near identical names, release in the same year (lol, sorry PS4 owners, that's two weeks)? It's the most confusing shit ever.

But it's still short
