Sorry if i ask stuff that has been asked a lot before, but when i did some research, i found mixed informations online, so i figured i ask directly, just to be safe. (instead of relying on potentially outdated info) I just set up atmosphere on emummc through hekate yesterday, and there's still a lot i have to learn

from my understanding, i should be able to play my physical cartridges online (like smash bros) on ofw as long as i keep it clean, and do all homebrew on emummc, right?
both my sysnand and emummc are on 9.0, so if i want to lay online, i need to update my firmware. is it correct, that i should first update my emummc though ChoiDujour, and then sysnand? also should i update sysnand normally via internet, or offline through ChoiDujour too?

And lastly, is there a way to update emummc without activating autorcm? i prefer it to have my switch just boot normally to ofw in case i don't have a way to inject a payload on me. (can currently only use my pc at home for payloads). i've read that you can disable it after using ChoiDujour, but that it would burn fuses

yes

You don't have to update them at the same time. just update your sysnand so you can go online again. And update your emummc when a games forces you to be on a higher fw.

also should i update sysnand normally via internet, or offline through ChoiDujour too?
if you want to keep your sysnand as clean as possible then you should update it online.

And lastly, is there a way to update emummc without activating autorcm? i prefer it to have my switch just boot normally to ofw in case i don't have a way to inject a payload on me. So you want to keep your fuses count in your emummc?

As soon as your Switch boots normally without RCM it bruns the fuses of the sysnand.

in case i don't have a way to inject a payload on me. (can currently only use my pc at home for payloads)
If you have an android phone and a usb c to usb c cable you can use this app on the go:

As soon as your Switch boots normally without RCM it bruns the fuses of the sysnand.
so that means every boot on an unmodified switch burns fuses too?
all i understood about fuses is that it's bad to burn them, as they might prevent possible exploits in the future to work.

yeah, i saw that. i ordered a double ended usb-c cable, but it will take a while to arrive, so in the meantime i'm limited on where i can restart the system

Yes, as soon as you boot up your Switch ,without going into RCM first, and the Nintendo bootloader boots the sysnand it burns the fuses if the fuse count is not correct.
To prevent that you have to boot into RCM (autoRCM) ,so the nintendo bootloader is skipped, everytime you turn on your Switch.

all i understood about fuses is that it's bad to burn them, as they might prevent possible exploits in the future to work.
burnt fuses just means that you can't downgrade your switch as easy anymore (I think there is a way to still downgrade but it's pretty complicated)
But yeah it prevents you from using exploits for lower fw's
