Thanks but that doesn't help me much.....

Yes, but at least if you know the propose you can find out how important is that.
Looks like it's hight frequency filter basically a dual-capacitor that runs parallel you can see one side has orientation mark like polarized capacitors,

Those aren't required in to the circuit, they just clear signals and defend from hight frequency spikes... usually you can find them in to the low voltage or data lines.

But this information just a guess, 0 trust to my words!

I measured it and it's short. It has to be replaced but I don't know how to look for it......

It's common situation for 'filter' caps, they tented to drain, just take it off and check how's line, is short still there?

I removed it and short disappears..

If my theory is right everything should work correctly now...
But idk where to find this guy other than donor board.
I'll check in my trash may be some board revisions have better info on them...

I was almost right... serves same purpose filtering, from middle pin to ground on other side... Live and learn...
Good catch guys! And yes it can work without it... but for how long :gun:

Check chokes near p13 chip, those are usually got fried with shorted USB-C

i have checked the coils. seems like the first one doesn't have any continuity at all. where can i get one of these? does anyone know the value of the choke ?

I measured it and it's short. It has to be replaced but I don't know how to look for it......

mine has no continuity at all. the other filters i measured it has resistance of around 1.5 to 1.6 the one in question is just O.L. on my multimeter. i was thinking of just putting a jumper to this, but when something goes wrong it will fry my P13USB chip once more and might cause a lot more damage. so i might try to find a replacement for this part.

i could not attach any link to the image since i am just a new member. so i just grab a photo from another thread. the part that i need is the 5th choke when looking at this photo the one that has 6 legs. near the charge port its connected to the p13usb chip

I am used to it and it works perfectly.

Plug the charger in and see if that cap get's hot, don't leave it in for age's though.

Check in the usb port to make sure all pins are ok

I've checked the USB port and there doesn't appear to be anything wrong. The cap doesn't appear to get hot either. I'm not sure it's the actual cap that's defective, I was thin king the BQ24193, but when I removed it nothing seems different.

Just remove the cap, have you still got BQ24193 removed if so then all that leaves is the small cap just above the one your testing.

Yes I still have the BQ removed, I'll take out the cap and check the other smaller cap too.

Thanks!

Looks like my issue may have been a bad cap - I removed it and there is no short over both pads and the other tiny cap that was showing as shorted is ok now too.

Problem is I dont have a replacement and have to order some...
