I think i need some help! i have updated my cfw to newest atmosphere and latest hakate.. when i try to start tinfoil it just says that i must uninstall kosmos..i do that and can start tinfoil..but then when i reboot i must install the atmosphere files on the sd card again..it wont boot into cfw

is there any "patched" tinfoil/lithium that work?? i am not so found of goldleaf and goldtree

or how can i set up the cfw? i like atmosphere..all other things work good

You don‘t need to remove the micro sd card to boot to clean SysNAND.

Right, I just mean that I'm using a separate microSD card for my sysNAND because I have purchased eShop games I'd like to play online. If I go into sysNAND with my CFW microSD inserted, it prompts a reformat option. I don't want anything on my CFW microSD to "ping" Nintendo when I'm using my untouched sysNAND, so I figure it's safer to have two separate microSD cards: one for my sysNAND and one for my emuNAND. I just want to make sure I can "swap" between both without any issues/risk by turning off my system in-between booting into either sysNAND or emuNAND.

thank you hugely for all of the support you have given. but when you say about the 4 fuses, i am not entirely following on that. is 4 a reference to the number of fuses NOT burned? if so, then how can i use hekate without enabling nogc?

and... can you comment on actual benefit to using firmware version 3.0.1/3.0.0 as opposed to a higher version? at this juncture in the scene, 3.0.1/3.0.0 don't seem very useful anymore. only use i can think of is keeping SysNAND on the lower firmware for things like warmboot and possibly unteathered coldboot in the future. for me, these things are a non-issue, so i would be interested to hear any other actual uses of 3.0.1/3.0.0. thank you!

again, thanks a ton! ^_^

P.S. if there is any way i can show my gratitude aside from just hitting the Like button, please let me know! you have been a great help :)
There are around 32 or 64 (I cannot remember the exact number) of fuses dedicated to preventing downgrades. This fuse count is how the console tracks what firmware versions you are allowed to boot. For reference, a list can be found here. The number denotes how many fuses are currently burnt. And if you wish to use Hekate without nogc, you can turn off autonogc by changing the number after the = from 1 to 0 in the hekate_ipl.ini file located in the /bootloader folder.

My personal stance is that more options are objectively better than less options. What this means is that while there may not be anything right now for lower firmware versions, if and when something is released in the future, I would rather have the option of being able to use a future exploit than not because we do not know what the future holds. Combine that with the fact that it is simple to update without burning fuses and I cannot find any excuse for burning fuses outside of laziness. For example, many people would prefer an untethered coldboot solution to CFW meaning that the console boots into CFW without any user input. This type of exploit would be better than the current tethered coldboot exploit in every way except it may require the usage of emuMMC. However this is a non-issue as plenty of people use emuMMC for avoiding a ban.

And if you want to truly show your thanks, try helping someone else out on the forums whether in this thread or another. The best gift is knowing the knowledge you gave someone helps someone else.
What's the difference between fusee-primary.bin and fusee-secondary.bin? I read somewhere that you can boot with fusee-primary as well as with hekate. When I always boot with hekate do I need the fusee-primary.bin on my sd card? @Draxzelex
What that means is Hekate supports rebooting into Fusee_primary if you want to launch Atmosphere that way and still keep Hekate as it is more useful than Fusee. Hekate has plenty of differences between Fusee that would take too long to list here but I cannot reason why anyone would ever boot Atmosphere with Fusee instead of Hekate unless they are unaware of Kosmos.

Is there any ways to use PS4/Xbox controller for Nswitch, wired or wirelessly?? or do you have to buy of those expensive adaptor?
You can try using hid-mitm.

Do you mind if I ask why dont you personally use emuMMC?
It requires a lot of space on my micro SD card.

does anyone know why when i install a forwarder NSP, it just stays a blank icon that cant be clicked and can only be deleted by going into the system settings to uninstall it
Where did you obtain this .NSP file from?

I think i need some help! i have updated my cfw to newest atmosphere and latest hakate.. when i try to start tinfoil it just says that i must uninstall kosmos..i do that and can start tinfoil..but then when i reboot i must install the atmosphere files on the sd card again..it wont boot into cfw

Use the real Tinfoil.

That is acceptable. He was simply saying that you do not have to swap SD cards if you could avoid it.

Had a heck of a time getting my ipatched 4.1.0 to cfw. the guide I followed had me skip a lot because of ipatch. Am I still needing to install something to protect my fuses? I believe that I need to keep sysnand at 4.1.0 to keep warmboot through fake news. so i am confused to how to update to play things like smash(dont care about playing online ever) as I would have to run an update. I cant use autorcm because of Ipatch and have to boot into sysnand to run caffeine. Am I still able to create an emunand or something like that....have it updated but leave the sysnand at 4.1.0 to use hax? if so, what are some of the best guides for my situation? ......and mega super thanks in advanced

You cannot prevent your fuses from being blown because you cannot enable AutoRCM and send a payload on coldboot to bypass the fuse check. All you can do is setup emuMMC and update that. If you need a guide, you can find one here

Is there a guide to install Atmosphere from stock firmware using Caffeine and emummc? I was going to follow the guide at https://switch.homebrew.guide/index but it does not have emummc instructions. Also I am unsure if I should follow that guide using the IPATCHED option. My switch is of the old model that isn't patched and I have firmware 4.1.0, but I don't have a jig and would like to do everything in software. If I mess something up I could get a jig and use RCM. Another thing I'm unsure of is how to handle the exfat update. Should I update sysmmc before installing custom firmware or after. If after, how do I dump the sysmmc if the filesystem only can handle 4 GB files?

Also, is there an app to selfhost Pegascape on android?

This is a copy/paste from another thread that helped me out. Credit goes to gRoberts84.
  1. Go to SDSetup, download Kosmos + PegaScape, with Signature Patches enabled.
  2. Follow the Setting up the SD Card - Partitioning portion of https://www.scenefolks.com/pages.php?page=4210
  3. Extract the zip from #1.
  4. Copy contents from the payloads folder into sd/bootloader/payloads
  5. Copy contents of sd into your primary partition (the larger of the two)
  6. Insert the SD into the switch and boot into hetake as usual.
  7. If you haven't already, DO THIS! https://switch.homebrew.guide/hacking/caffeine/safetyprecautions
  8. Once complete, get back to hetake and click on EmuMMC.
  9. Click on Create EmuMMC and select SD Partition.
  10. Once complete, get press B a few times to get back to the main hetake screen and click reload.
  11. Click on EmuMMC to ensure you have enabled in the top left. If not, press Change EmuMMC and select an option from the left.
  12. Now, press B a few times to get back to the main hetake screen and click Launch > CFW (Emunand)
If you happen to restart the Switch, you'll boot back into OFW, so you will need to:
  • Click on News > ReSwitched.
  • Follow instructions (Caffeine, tap textbox, wait 5 seconds and press power)
  • In hetake, click on Launch > CFW (Emunand).

Once in CFW (Emunand) you need to make sure you are still on 90DNS, or airplane mode. Its also a good idea to change theme colour so you easily know if your on ofw or Emunand.

If you were to reboot your switch and Settings > System (before going through ReSwitched etc) you will see the firmware of your Sysnand is still 4.1.0 and after booting into CFW (Emunand) it will be different.

From there, I use choidujournx to install 8.1.0:
  • Download choidujournx (https://switchtools.sshnuke.net/)
  • Extract and copy ChoiDujourNX.nro to switch folder on SD Card.
  • Download firmware 8.1.0.zip
  • Create Firmware folder on SD Card.
  • Extract 8.1.0.zip and copy all files in the folder into the Firmware folder from above.
  • Insert the SD Card back into the Switch.
  • Boot into CFW (Emunand) and check System > Settings to make sure you see (AMS 0.92) in the firmware version.
  • Click home button.
  • Hold R and press Album twice.
  • Click on choidujournx.
  • Click on Choose (bottom right)
  • Click on 8.1.0 (or 8.1.0 exfat if you decided to format your SD with exfat)
  • Click on Select Firmware (bottom right)
  • Note on the left that "Prevent fuse burning (enable AutoRCM)" has a X and on the right, it mentions AutoRCM is disabled due to the device being patched. You do not need to change anything, this is forcibly disabled.
  • Once complete, click Reboot.
After clicking Reboot it took me back to hetake, where I selected Launch > CFW (emunand)

Now you will be on 8.1.0 on Emunand but 4.1.0 on Sysnand.

My console is not patched but I have a nand backup on 3.0.2 is there any point in restoring the nand or should I stay on latest firmware?

Ok.
So if I understand correctly,

1. First I format my sd to FAT32 and a second partition for emummc
2. Download Kosmos + PegaScape, with Signature Patches enabled and put on sd
3. Configuring PegaScape (Wifi Authentication Prompt)
4. Inject Fake News
5. Configure PegaScape (Fake News)
6. Reboot to Hekate and Back up my NAND and BIS keys. It will work with FAT 32, but I will have to do it in steps since I can't store the whole NAND in one file.
7. Get back to hekate and click on EmuMMC, creating a new EmuMMC.
8. Boot EmuMMC and update using choidujournx

(Update) I read that it is better not to use exfat so I removed the last step of formatting back to exfat

Yep sounds about right. I had trouble with goldleaf so i used tinfoil to usb install .nsp files. You can use 4nxci to convert xci files to nsp if needed aswell.

Should I format the usb as exfat? Does it support exfat from usb if I choose the exfat option when updating with ChoiDujourNX?

If it is clean, you can restore it to keep your console clean or just on hand if you ever want to go online. And even if it is not clean, a complete NAND backup can still recover you from a brick.

Can I get banned for only using the backup feature of hekate? Is it somewhere saved in my logs that I booted to hekate from RCM?
