Hi all - Hope someone can give me some advice on this, I did try and google but didn't find anything off the bat.

I am looking to get a new Switch so I can use it for online play along side my CFW unit. Sadly like an idiot I didn't take a backup until after I had run stuff so I have no hope in getting the current switch online again.

The current switch has all of its games purchased through the eShop tied to my Nintendo Account, I don't think the Switch or account is currently banned (can log into the store via the web, been running 90DNS on the unit forever) - Will I be safe to purchase a new Switch and log in with my current Nintendo Account to download all my games and carry on from there, or would it be better to bite the bullet, make a new Nintendo Account for online access and buy carts for the new Switch?

OP didnt ask about a patched switch for online play.

The correct question is, "Has the switch you're looking at buying ever been modded in any way?" RCM? CFW? Anything.

If the answer is no then you're good to go. Buy it and link your online account and enjoy online.

based on what I've read, Nintendo only bans the account if you're caught cheating. I guess they feel that not banning the account might entice you to go legit with your next system.

Yeah... what OP should do is play online with his current system (in the cleanest way possible) and if he gets banned, then buy a new system. Otherwise, you could just be wasting $300 for nothing. But to be fair, I'm not the one risking hundreds of dollars worth of eshop-purchased content. That's the punishment you get for actually paying for your software. If Nintendo is trying to encourage piracy, they're doing a good job of it.

Thanks for your reply - Do you know of a guide I can follow to clean my current NAND as best as possible without restoring, etc?

I did also see some people say Nintendo arnt as hard with the banhammer now, so I may well give it a shot - My eShop account isnt worth a huge ammount as it is, and I can always back it all up before I unhack everything, so its an option I am willing to try.

Really, without a NAND backup, I'm not sure that there is much you can do to "clean" up your system. I would create emunand, then delete any NSPs you installed on sysnand before going online in sysnand. There will still be logs of what happened on your system in the meantime, but I've heard that clearing the logs is a bigger flag to Nintendo than dirty logs. Of course, once you have emunand set up, never go online in emunand and never hack in sysnand.

Yes. Nintendo doesn't care about your Nintendo Account, in fact even if your console gets banned they will still happily transfer your account to a new console (and tell you it's safe to use it on the new console and you won't get banned)
It would be best to contact them to get it transferred properly, so you don't have to set it up as a secondary console which means you need an internet connection to play any of your legit games.
