Gaming I was enjoying FFX until the onslaught of cheap bosses near the end

I’m a pretty casual gamer and the only RPG series I ever liked was Pokémon. Anyway because of this I had no intention of beating the dark aeons, doing the monster arena or getting the celestial weapons. I just planned on beating the story and moving on to X-2.

FFX was shaping up to be one of my favorite Switch games... until I got to the calm lands. There’s just way too many cheap bosses now. It feels like you’re supposed to have reflect and other defensive Yuna abilities on everyone by now which seems unrealistic for a casual like me.

Anyway while half way through the story and still on a high I ordered FF 12 for Switch too but now I’m afraid to play it if it’s going to be like this. I don’t enjoy cheap bosses with cheap counter attacks for every hit you make.

Will I enjoy FFXII? Am I just too brittle for final fantasy games?

I recommend watch HCBailey's Final Fantasy X remaster playthrough. This man 100%s the games he plays, spoiler-free and with precision. He plays them many times beforehand and takes notes the entire way through. His Let's Plays are the result.

Hmm I found FFX to be really easy but then I am a hard core jrpg player so not sure how casual gamers find it. I would say FFXII has harder bosses towards the end than X but again nothing to hard if you know what you are doing.

I ended up just cheesing everything with Yojimbo, Bahamut, Overdrives holy/flare ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I kinda wish I experienced the bosses the way they were intended but oh well. I didn’t wanna double my playtime just grinding.

thats the fault of the game, not you. The game gets broken once Yuna gets Bahamut anyway.
