Are you launching reicast with full ram acces (pressing R in some game icon)?

Probably not, is that in the settings menu of the emulator?

So I'm having trouble getting anything to work, a lot of them just crash when I press start or get to the main screen, I tried 2 games that they said were working, Jet Grind Radio, and Crazy Taxi, both cause me to have to reboot my switch, I tried Aero Wings and I got to the game menu, and then it crashed when I went to select a game mode, in fact the menu was jumbled and I couldn't read hardly anything. When putting the bios in I renamed dc_boot.bin, to dc_bios.bin, only because that's what I've been told to do in the past, I don't know if that is the reason but I know I must be doing something wrong if everyone else can seem to get a few games working.

What CFW are you using ?
With SXOS is pretty straightforward, I don't know for the others.

I'm sure your issue comes from the memory usage: do you hold R while loading a NS game in order to enter HBL with full RAM access ?
"dc_bios.bin" worked for me, just put it un root/reicast/data.

I'm running Hekate_ctaer 4.10, I've found very little information about this on YouTube, other than people running lots of games, which says to me that I'm doing something wrong.

Can you access the 'homebrew launcher' by holding R while launching an official game ?
You should access the same menu as you do when clicking the photo-album thingy, but this time, you'll be able to use reicast (and N64 games on retroarch).

I really don't get what you're talking about, I held R down while launching an official game on custom firmware and nothing happened, I also held it down while launching the photos app and it launched into the photos, which was new, nevertheless it launched into my homebrew launcher when I launched it without holding down the R button. What CFW are you using? Atmosphere? SXOS? ReiNX? If you're solely just using Hekate as a CFW, I highly suggest using one of those CFWs I mentioned as they will open homebrew by holding R when launching a game. You NEED to launch the homebrew menu using a game because doing it by the album doesn't grant you full access to the RAM. Without the RAM, it will crash every time.

Tested with SX OS

Confidential Mission (US) (chd) - Playable with some minor screen popping
Virtua Cop 2 (JPN) (cdi) - Unplayable Freezes at Sega logo

Ironically Crazy Taxi 2 in chd format keeps crashing but the cdi format is playable. If any games crash try a it in a different format.

Nope. There are some games that don't even run at half speed. lol

with .gdi the "Ready2RumbleBoxing-Round2" run bad 20-40fps .

but me german version from org disc in "Ready2RumbleBoxing-Round2.cdi"

i have 60 fps stable in many stages. and in the bad stages i have also 60 fps with oc and 4 cores

maybe the rom version is also a problem..

No, those forwarders give you the extra ram without doing anything but selecting the game.
