Patched switch + autorcm = brick
unpatched + autorcm = Fine

the bricking is happening on 8.0 from what I can tell. don't quote me on that. just going on info I've seen from scires
The question is, why even install autorcm on a patched switch which isn't even vulnerable through rcm and that raises yet another question, how would you even get it into autorcm in the first place?
I have no idea. I didn't pay much attention to the web exploit in the early day
8.0 completely patched the Deja Vu exploit, so the devs released the documentation on it. Soon people with patched Switches will be able to run CFW. Which also means that people with patched Switches will be able to install AutoRCM. With the amount of people who can't even successfully copy files to the correct location on their SD card, I wouldn't count on them realizing that installing AutoRCM on their patched Switch will brick it.
See above; people are dumb. One way that you can install AutoRCM on a patched Switch is ChoidujourNX.
Ah, now I see. So autorcm is basically completely useless for patched units, but people could be able to do it if they wanted to, even if it made no sense. Well, then it's maybe in the hands of the homebrew programmers to implement safety measures, as in - patched unit recognized (if that's possible), autorcm not available. Won't happen with Choi though since Raj abandoned it

Well, I guess we should have expected this to get patched, after part of the exploit chain was leaked in a Hekate update. I'm only surprised it took this long.

You're misunderstanding. It's confusing because people are talking like it's currently possible. It's not, but Deja Vu will be released soon which will allow people to run CFW on patched Switches, which in turn will allow people to install AutoRCM on them (using ChoidujourNX for example). The exploit being patched has no affect on consoles that are able to enter RCM and push payloads. Once Atmosphere is updated to support 8.0, fusee/sept will work normally. And you can continue using AutoRCM on these consoles.

Sept relies on exploits, I'm just not sure if it relies on the same exploits as Deja Vu. If it isn't patched yet, it's just a matter of time.
Deja Vu is a software exploit, Sept relies on a hardware exploit.
I assume people will install autoRCM thinking it will allow them to push payloads like unpatched units.
The warning is there so that folks don't make that mistake.
You can install autoRCM with tools like ReiNX Toolkit from HorizonOS.
Unless checks are added to those kind of tools they will install autoRCM on ipatched units just the same as non-patched units.
