Grand Theft Auto VI pre orders go live tomorrow, physical release limited to code in box

The delays may be behind us, but the news isn't all good for Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar have today announced that pre-orders for the game will go live tomorrow, on the 25th of June. Those who pre-order will get the Vintage Vice City Pack, a small throwback to one of their older titles. With the game launching on the 19th of November, fans will be able to start their pre-loads a full week early to ensure there's enough time to get things ready. So what's the bad news here? As you've probably seen from the title, there's no true physical release planned for the game. The retail version will instead feature a code in the box, being available to buy at the same time as pre-loads going live.

Rockstar also announced an Ultimate Edition for the game, throwing in an assortment of "vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action" for those willing to spend big. Barring further delays, the game will be available to play on the 19th of November.

and yet people are still buying them :glare:
In record numbers, which tells you that the "death of physical games" 🤡's are a very small minority of gamers and have zero power to change anything in the industry with their incessant whining and threatened boycotts. (Pokémon Pokopia sold 4 million Game-Key Cards in 5 weeks!)

It's typically hilarious that the same people who are also whining about what an unoptimized mess of code GTA6 is without ever so much as playing a trial version of it are also suggesting that pirating it is justified because they didn't get their way with a physical release. If it's a barely 30 FPS snorefest, then why pirate it at all?

By the way, it's also one of the most -- if not the most -- stunning looking games of all-time, which even heavily optimized would have a hard time running at 60 on shitty circa 2020 AMD hardware (read as PS5 and Xbox Series X) with ray tracing and other advanced techniques that circa 2020 AMD was NOT good at. And if you want "lower graphics" (LOL!) like Marc in your GTA, go ahead and buy GTA 5 again or wait for the GTA6 Switch 2 port (something Digital Foundry laughed at when I suggested it a year ago, but now is all but confirmed for obvious reason$).

Most of us want Rockstar to push boundries with the biggest and most expensive entertainment release in human history. Every single one of you passionate enough to whine about GTA6 like a toddler who has dropped his lollipop will also be buying GTA6 like everyone else.

Except me of course. 🏴‍☠️I sail the seas with Captain Fitgirl🏴‍☠️ without regret nor idiotic justifications like "If buying isn't owning, then Piracy isn't stealing" or "corporations are greedy." Grow up and steal like a man. It's not "preservation" and it's not justified. It's free. Just like me in the land of neofascism on its birthday.
