Wii U? This is for the Wii only.

Did I stutter? Funny, I seem to recall Wii U's vWii being pretty much outputting the same as an original Wii, only outputting 640 x 480 max. But hey, don't take my word for it. Tomato tomato.

@cucholix Goldeneye has no Sky Glitch in Not64 and can be annoying or distracting Wii64 1.2 runs better because of Rice Not64 is GlideN64 only.

Unless im using some dodgy version? I have been using the latest Not64 up until now , That said Wii64 Beta 1.2 Rice by Fix wont Save?

Overall I am glad to hear something from Not64.

If only the latest GlideN64 and Count Per Op with additional Settings where implemented This is the best N64 out of the box Emulator besides Parallel via RetroArch or PJ64.

https://www.patreon.com/m64p

The lack of a skybox has been an issue in some emulators for years, only a couple of plugins on PC can truly emulate it accurately, GlideN64 and Glide64 as far as I know. I've wanted to see the skybox issue fixed on
the Wii/Wii U side for years. I doubt Rice Video would fix it.

Rice atleast shows the Sky Box in Goldeneye still bit glitchy but you get to see Sky where in GlideN64 it messed up I always used Project 64 and depended on it up until Parallel for RetroArch and the newer Mupen64+GlideN64 I linked earlier I know it probably the same but it worked straight up no hassle like it said on the Website Credit is actually due to another User here who posted it in another thread.

Thanks to Extrems For continuing to support your work and share in first place though. Damn I wish I could concentrate and learn to Code.

What's weird is on PC it's the opposite, Glide64 shows the skybox in the games where they're broken on other plugins.

I know it just unfortunate it not as simple to transition to Wii/Wii U.

@the_randomizer I Feel Your Pain!!! It would be awesome to have Not64 or Wii64 the way PC Runs no fancy 4K etc just 480P running at nice Frame Rate and all Games Run.

Rogue Squadron and Resident Evil 2 and other Factor 5 Games etc they run fine with Emu I linked earlier.

Is really that surprising that people looking for homebrew stuff still show more interest on the Wii when one system sells 100+ million units and the other doesn't reach 15 million?

I'm sorry to disappoint on Not64, but this is big news for the Wii.

https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?p=1361158#p1361158

That thread is really interesting, although I have very little knowledge in the subject.

Does this really mean that we could make the Wii image output look better, and any 480P content will benefit? I'm sure it wouldn't be easy to make it work with "any" game or homebrew app, though, specially the latter, I guess many apps would need to be recompiled to take advantage of that.

That thread made me go check my Wii's board, as I forgot what it was exactly. Happy to rediscover it is a RVL-60, lol.

And yet the Wii was far weaker and Wii U had so much more potential for emulators running far better *shrug*.

It seems the downloads are paywalled *sigh* damn.

Yeah unfortunately but I did nab a Build before it became that way and so far so good:D I think the post was in the N64VC Widescreen Thread?

That is when I first heard about it a user posted it so from that date is the build I got or round abouts.

Awesome! Congrats on the find and thank you for the fix @Extrems ! I can see why you shy away from hanging around GBAtemp when you have these other super knowledgable and appreciative communities who respect you and your passion.

Thanks @Extrems for the updates!

i hope someday we can run turok 3 perfectly on not64 its so close now :P
Slowly but surely getting there!

Apparently they haven't *shrug*. Sad that Wii gets more attention than Wii U.
Wii U sucks, even for Wii homebrew. Who cares?
Wii is still the king of the Homebrew Hill.

Thank you, Extrems. Also, please throw Enhanced mGBA some love too!
He said he will, pretty awesome news, tbh. :yaywii:

A few things that are not clear after many posts
- This is only a feature for the Wii because the vWii didn't suffer that issue or because it is something that cannot be fixed on the Wii U?
- Since not all the Wiis seem to support this fix... Any easy wayo to detect if any specific model supports it?

The Wii U has far more serious problems of its own.

All Wii models should support the fix, in theory.

@Extrems
Thanks for keeping on improving your projects!
Does this fix improve image quality for people that play in a CRT TV with RGB? (I play on 480i@60 in a PAL TV). Will there be any difference in 240p? Or this fix only affects 480p?

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
