ok so i got a second 6p ,bought it from fleabay , advertised as "new sealed in box"
shocker it wasn't, most likely refurb , packaging was hard plastic ,not original

ended up filing a dispute and got the money back and got to keep the phone too

so after not even 6 weeks of using it ,the phone (inside a TPU case) slid from my pocket while driving
it fell between the drivers seat and the center console , i had it paired to bluetooth at the time , soon as the phone fell (all of about 6 inches)
the music stopped

i retrieved the phone from between the seat and center console and saw the screen was black , i pressed power and nothing , i held down power and nothing (phone was just charged to 75% prior to leaving my house 5 minutes earlier)
the phone is 100% unresponsive

i took it home and plugged it into my original 6p charger and immediately upon plugging it in it started to boot without me pressing the power button

it starts to boot but then it loops ,i can get into the boot menu but as soon as i unplug the phone the screen goes off, it doesn't matter how long it is plugged in for ,soon as i unplug it screen goes off and it is 100% unresponsive

i also stopped at best buy before i got home and tried using a USB C they had for a PC display and when i plugged it into that it didn't start to boot , i think the led flashed red twice quick but i don't remember now

when i plug it in to my charger though i never see the battery charging icon screen , it just automatically tries to boot and then loops

but does nothing at all when not plugged in

i am not sure what is happening here , but when i got the phone and suspected it was not as advertised i took out my digital scale and weighed it and my original 6p , and it weighed less than the original i could feel that it felt lighter too

so my theory is that they did a shitty job on the refurb and that they used a smaller battery , maybe one that was not just smaller in capacity but in dimensions too and that is was not glued in good so that when the phone fell the battery moved and came unplugged internally

so is this how a phone would behave if it you plugged it in to the charger with no internal battery connected, no charging screen
and immediately try to boot and then loop?

i want to take it to ifixit and get a new battery if that would be the only issue with it but i am not sure if it could be something else too
not sure if they will charge me to open the phone and diagnose it, it is worth it to have the battery replaced for $100 i think
but to spend more than that on it , it is 128 GB model i don't think it is worth it

any insight as to what is going on with this phone and advice on what to do will be appreciated

I wouldn't bother with this phone if I were you, especially since you got refunded for it. If it's not the battery, something else fails over time. The Bluetooth in mine completely died, and had the short battery life problem. The USB-C port was also incredibly flimsy, so I could only charge it on a flat surface. Not to mention that you have the possibility of the BLoD due to the processor overheating. You can fix it by disabling half of the cores, but that also effectively hobbles the phone. Honestly, spring for a Xiaomi phone. My Redmi Note 6 Pro has better specs than the 6P, and I paid $400 less for it.

can you get ok google screen unlock and hands free GA with it?
stock or custom rom?

i just want to know if this is what happens to a phone that has the internal battery disconnected
i could attempt a battery change myself too i guess for much cheaper

i am still using my other original 6p for now , i want to keep it till i see what the pixel 4 will have and how much pixel 3 will go down or what other phones come out in september october

it is just weird that it does not show the charging screen when plugged in and does not power on at all

and boots when plugged in but without me pressing power

Yes, on both stock and custom ROMs.

You're probably right about the battery being disconnected. This is what happens with phones without batteries.

ifixit gives parts, and you can try flashing a custom rom

thans
i saw
i already filed a claim wit the class action like 2 years ago i wonder if i have to file again
i have 2 phones but only filed for one, one has the battery issue the other bootlooped or appears to anyways

i also feel slighted here since they had to pay out more for cheaper phones , $425 and $700
or were offered more valuable rebates
i got the 128GB model so i feel like $400 is not really just compensation especially since lawsuits for lower model nexus phones had higher payouts

they should at least offer us a free pixel 3 XL
or pixel 4 rebate
