Simply put, what older games would you like to see remastered or remade?

For this discussion, let's use these definitions :

Remastered - the graphics and sound are redone leaving the core gameplay and story alone. IE: the Spyro games and the first Oddworld.

Redone can be anything. This includes changing the story and really any elements of the game. IE : Ratchet & Clank.

Personally, I would like a remastered version of the Golden Sun games. I started playing them again, and still love them.

I do that count things like Bioshock Remastered or simple upscaling.

EDIT: If a mod sees this, feel free to move this to the general gaming section. I did not see that before as I originally posted it on my phone using an app and I had a bad signal causing delays in viewing all the areas.

Having all 3 Golden Sun games remastered and released either as a collection like Ace Attorney Trilogy or separately (at less than full retail price) would be great.
Also, they need to release Mario & Luigi Partners in Time for 3DS, Bowser's Inside Story got a port so why not Partners in Time?
I don't think 3DS is getting any more big unannounced games at this point though.

I'm fine with any remaster, to be honest. For me, the mechanics and story are generally the most important bits for a game. A nice face-lift can help elevate both of those things. I suppose any n64/psx, possibly gamecube/ps2, era games are the best options. Just as 3d was really a thing and they were working out the kinks.

But as far as what I'd personally like to play, I suppose most jrpgs would be nice. So long as they keep the turn-based combat (not everything has to be kingdom hearts, square enix). ff6 would be interesting, but I hold zero hopes it would ever actually be done in a way that improves on the original. So I'd be happy with something like chrono cross or megaman legends 1,2 being redone.

Silent Hill 2 would be nice. Well, done right obviously.

There's hope for a Xenosaga port.

I would enjoy a completely remade Lufia I + II pack with up to date gameplay and graphics.

Hmmm... also Phantasy Star 2, and 4.
Hell, I could see a semi open-world kind of variant of Phantasy Star 2/4, it should be remade completely, redesign from the core, but I would like it to have a quite similar story and vibe.

Also Xenogears, completely remade from the ground up and this time remade right.

Persona 3 FES. I think its the right age and has good enough clout to sell again.
-Remake the game in the P5 engine.
-Add the FeMC as a playable character
-as well as her social links
-add in the FES content
-quality of life improvements
maybe engineer a senario where the mc gets brought back from being the nyx seal...
I think Atlus could have a real banger with this stuff.

I know it's old as shit and not well known, but I'd like to play an updated solar jetman.
Nothing wrong with old. Age and platform is not an issue here.
Heck, I wouldn't mind a proper remake of adventure. Just make a modern dungeon crawler.
Then again, I also would like a people remake of Bullet Witch where I won't die in the middle of an open field for no reason. I actually got all the achievements for that game, and I regret it. Great concept & OK story, but the game mechanics we're broken.

This would never happen but I'd love to see the .Hack games on 3DS. Remastered preferably, but it would likely need to be remade from the ground up regardless.

Super Mario Sunshine 3D would be amazing as well but it's far more likely to show up on Switch so, don't have any hopes for that.

Mostly I just have interest in the things that won't happen. lmao

I'll probably think of some much better ideas later, but the 1st game that came to mind was Wario Land for Virtual Boy remade for 3DS. I actually own that game, and it doesn't really do anything that hasn't been done by other 2.5D platformers, but it's a solidly good game that not many people got a chance to play.

What if they remastered some pc games like the old doom games, or civilization games, master of orion 2, or blood or heretic.

I thought PS4/5 and Xbox One emulation would be kind of easy since they basically just a PC
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
    they sorta are a pc
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
but its a custom os for both of them
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source

I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm

At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.

nintendo needs to up their game soon
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah even bt support for Xbox one controllers are just as easy as pairing

considering the steamdeck can emulate the switch (yikes) theres almost 0 reason to buy the switch apart from playing online and using cartridges

Xinput and 360 dongles were a driver nightmare
