Hacking Touchscreen not working 3ds, Ds titles

I cannot figure out this problem I'm facing. I installed cfw on my 3ds a while back and my r4 seemed to be working just fine. Updated to 11.9, and for some reason my r4's touch screen stopped responding. Touch screen didn't work in any games i launched, and thought it was a kernel issue. Downloaded the kernel from its site, and replaced it on my r4. Touch screen still didn't work. I thought it was my cfw so i uninstalled it. Touch screen still didn't work. I installed cfw through ntrboot and low and behold for some reason it started working. My problem came back after installing b9s and all that jazz. I figured out the touchscreen doesn't work when i click on "Nintendo DS Connections" in the settings. Led me to believe the ds functionality was broken so i tried installing the TWL cias and that didn't work either. I am at a complete loss of what to do. Any help would be outstanding.

Edit : Uninstalled cfw and reinstalled hoping i could get any ds titles to work. While I can't interact with anything on the touch screen on my r4, It has a screensaver. This screensaver turns the top and bottom screen off until you press a button. I touched my touchscreen, and it seems to respond to my touch. I read somewhere online about dstwos touchscreen touching (1,1) or something like that. Hopefully this can help? I'll continue trying to remedy my problem. Don't be afraid to mention anything, I'm not getting anywhere

Edit 2 : With the help of Twilight Menu++ , I found out it touches the very bottom right of my touchscreen whenever I touch anywhere on the screen. Everything works fine on 3ds games and the 3ds menu.

Edit 3 : Decided to try transfering a 9.2.0-20 CTRtransfer image to CTRNAND. I was successful in doing so, didn't work. Same issues. Thought maybe doing a system update from there would maybe fix any files wrong? Nah, it just updated. Same thing is happening. I think I suck at troubleshooting. Will keep trying.

I've tried everything I could possibly find on the internet and forums for the past 4 days. The only solution I could come up with is to buy another 3ds. The only sysnand backup I have is the recent one. I must've lost the other one when my computer crashed, and was too lazy to back it up. Idk why this happened tbh, I remembered following the 3ds hack guide perfectly, and the problem just recently popped up. Funny thing is, I think it was yesterday, the touch screen worked when i booted my r4. I was suspicious so I shut down my 3ds and turned it back on, and it no longer worked. Tried an official cartridge and the touch screen doesnt respond. I have no idea what to do anymore.

Have you tried the "DS mode not working" section of https://3ds.hacks.guide/troubleshooting?

With the CTR transfer, it probably won't help, but try using Decrypt9. There have been some issues people have had where CTR transferring using GodMode9 hasn't helped, but Decrypt9 did, as it does it differently.

I have tried the "DS mode not working" section, and didn't seem to help at all. Not sure if I needed to install it through something besides FBI. Currently trying Decrypt9 if it will help at all, thanks for helping.

Anyone think it might be a good idea for me to download anything related to twl/ds titleid's from 3dnus using the yls8 website for reference? Or does that sound like a waste of time? I know the touch screen works in ds titles, it just seems broken/uncalibrated. It seems to want to only click the far bottom right of the touchscreen only.

@Confused3dsUser, can you verify if the touchscreen works in NATIVE_FIRM or 3DS mode?

1. Download and install 3DSident-GUI.
2. Press (START) + (SELECT) buttons while in the app to use the button tester.
3. See if touch screen works and if there are any dead spots.

If you already tried:

1. DSi / DS functionality is broken after completing the guide
   • You need to run System Update in System Settings or Recovery Mode because the provided TWL_FIRM cia is outdated.
2. 9.2.0 CTRTransfer (with GodMode9)

As mentioned by @Quantumcat, there's CTRTransfer with Decrypt9, but this one has some drawbacks...

There is 3rd CTRTransfer option, but it hasn't been publicly or real live tested yet. Would you perhaps be interested in its pilot program?

Do you have any HOME Menu DSiWare games that exhibit the same touchscreen problem as your DS flashcart? This is to rule out that the problem stems from the flashcart versus there's something wrong with the 3DS firmware.

The 3rd option is an experimental advancement of Decrypt9 CTRTransfer. There's no guarantee it'll fix the touchscreen issue. Lately, there has been a string of users experiencing broken DSi modes where even one of which was not fixed by it. :/

Let's hope for a good outcome in your case.

Again, no promises this will solve the touchscreen issue.

1. Follow the instructions exactly as listed there, especially the part about checking your SD card.
2. Make a back up of your SysNAND before using the script in case this goes awry. You are, as far as anyone is concern, the 2nd person to be using this.
   
3. The 9.2.0 CTRTransfer image you have on hand should be fine to use. If you feel more comfortable using a newer version image, there are 11.5.0 at [3ds.hacks.guide] CTRTransfer.

The only thing I have yet to try after using the Decrypt9 CTRTransfer is the new TWL_FIRM (for 11.9) which I'll have to get from 3Dnus.

I was wondering if there is some sort of DS calibration tool or cia, because the touchscreen does work in DS mode, it only wants to click the very bottom right portion of the screen. I'm sure that I am pretty f*cked at this point, but do you have an idea of why you think it might be doing this?

It is pretty late over here so I'll have to postpone this till tomorrow, but I really appreciate the help so far.

If you did CTRTransfer, updated to 11.9.0-42, and then launched a DSiWare or DS game without any problems, that means your DS mode or TWL_FIRM is no longer or ever broken. However, that doesn't explain why your touchscreen in DS mode doesn't correctly register inputs where as it does in 3DS mode as was checked in 3DSident-GUI.

It's a long shot, but have you tried touchscreen calibration in

• HOME Menu →System Settings →Other Settings → Touch Screen

?? Maybe it'll reset for both 3DS and DS modes.

Is your system o3DS, o3DSXL, or o2DS by the way? You're the second relatively recent person who has a really weird DS(i) mode problem. The other being:

• my DS Mode is Still bricked!

I'm quite concern if this is related to aging hardware.

My system is actually a n3ds (the non XL version)

And sorry for not phrasing that correctly. With my limited knowledge of the 3ds and how it works, is it possible to factory format everything on the 3ds. Maybe a file is corrupted somewhere (I'm not sure)? Unless you think it's a hardware problem.
