A new trailer for Shenmue III has been shown off by Yu Suzuki at the MAGIC 2019 conference.

The trailer showcases gameplay footage from the game, focusing on interactions with NPCs and the new combat system. While the footage is clearly from a work-in-progress build, we finally get to see the gameplay in action, which evokes the familiar charm of the previous Shenmue games including eccentric side characters and unique locations.

Shenmue III is scheduled to be released on 27 August 2019 on both PlayStation 4 and PC.

I'm impressed that they managed to capture the charm of II while improving the fluidity of animation

Can't wait to finally kick Lan Di's Ass after waiting for almost 20 years. The only gripe I have is the facial animations & graphics looking like xbox 360 ps3 era. If only lazy ass Sega handled the development and used the yakuza 6 engine. This would be a dream.

This story is supposed to have 6 games. Lan Di will be beatable in 2030. DLC, of course.

I hope this game is more fun than the previous two games. This doesn't seem like a series that is about "having fun" by doing "video game" things. Its way too hyper realistic for the reason of trying to tell a captivating, convincing, compelling (take your pick) story that seems a bit more like "If ace attorney had more action." Yakuza series is just as involved in the story telling, but there is still fun to be had with the kind of entertainment that you can have. Majima has a side of them that makes me laugh and how somethings happen in there are fun to watch and laugh at. I can't say the same for Shenmue.

All I ask is they least can have more control over time if they have to have events timed sensitive. If they have to have money making part of the story, keep it simple. Please keep the pacing good (fork lift job comes to mind... FIVE DAYS!?) Or least more ways to entertain the player if they want a break from the story. I know they have mini games and such and the Sega arcade games is always my memorable part of the game, but it does not compare to the amount of things you can do in Yakuza.

Honestly I just want the game to be fun and entertaining. As long as it gives me reasons to keep playing, that's good. But the only reason I find to think about playing one of the games, is for the story. I understand what kind of game it is. It has an interesting world with NPCs that has more development than RPG games, you explore places, look at stuff and interact with anything you can see. Best I can describe the game is "Stuff you you do in real life" or a virtual window into Japan's culture. All I can remember from years ago is talking to people, looking for clues, taking notes, playing a abundance of quick time events and fighting a bunch of people in huge numbers. I'm not saying the game is bad, but it's very boring to me.

This game is not going to be released, and if it does, it's going to suck so bad.
The trailer is just some lame talk and a few seconds of gameplay if I'm not mistaken, face expression didn't change at all, it's 2019 and they they think those kind of faces is Ok ?
That little fight / training is the same lame fight from the last year trailer, nothing changed at all.

The creator was quite ambitious then. Back then at most you had trilogies.

Heck why didn't he just go to write Light Novels instead?

Isn't Shenmue an IP of Sega? How come it's being made by another company.

If they have already done that for Sonic Games, why not?

If this actually comes out, I may play the first two games. I found out the cliff-hanging ending and I put it aside way back. But if they are actually going to finish the story, I will play the games and buy the new ones.

It is a good question though, why in the world didn't the writer/creator do novels or at least tell the story somehow? I know the fanbase has been begging for years.

Magic 19?
why I always learn about it the next day? I live next town I could attend it and report for gbatemp! but they never advertise it.

Shenmue3 looks better. lips are not synch, but that's not a big problem.
I never completed the first game. I guess I'll pass until I play them in order.

I hope this game is not another open world game. I am really having a fatigue over open world designs. FF XV is the ultimate banality of open world games - spending too much time on mindless fetch quests with a lackluster main story. I prefer something semi open world like mass effect or deus ex HR/MD
