Hi hi, I'm back asking more noobish questions! XD So I finally got around to installing CFW on my 3DS, I did the steelminer and frogminer methods to get there i think, and now it's all done. But now I'm getting a new SD card so I can fit more games on it, so that's where my questions start!

Firstly, all I need to do is copy/paste the files on my current SD card to my new one, right? Does that transfer the cia's I've installed too?

Secondly, how does that work with game save data? Will the save data be on my new SD Card or will I have to back that up manually for the new SD card?

Thanks for any help ^^;

Just make sure your new sd card is formatted to fat32 32kb clusters and you should be able to just copy everything to the new sd card. Saves will also move over aswell when you move the files.

I installed godmode9, boot9strap, luma, fbi, cia, homebrew launcher, DSi Twlight Menu ++, the updaters, and all that. Even got the custom CIA Injector working fine.

Then after I added some 3DS Homebrew, NDS homebrew to try to launch it in Twilight Menu ++, and two CIAs from a site (Samus Returns and Metroid Federation Force), my 3DS generated an error, it was some type of "exception" if I recall correctly. I dumped the error to the directory and I do have the error file if someone wants to see it.

Anyway, I had a hunch on which file it was, and I deleted that file (which was BrewMan). After that the system stopped giving exceptions and booted fine, except the games and programs were not loading. I can still boot into luma and godmode, but it would not load the files from my SD card.

I've already restored my Nand backup and that just reverted my 3DS destkop. No SD card functionality change.
Then I recreated the old file structure to exacts, just in case something was wrong there. No change.

I can, however, boot the homebrew menu via the download menu method and launch FBI to browse files. So there has to be a way to fix this?

Is my SD card toast? To be honest I am quite stumped and really worried.

Having a problem: I haven't touched my 3ds in maybe a year, so it's been sitting in my drawer. It had reinand and one of the earlier firmwares on it, maybe 10.1 or something.

I'm sure I used a9lh as the access point, and I turn it on today and it just boots to a black screen. I can enter the recovery menu with LRUpA, and I noticed on the bottom it says, "SD Card: 5146mb/30428mb & no Emunand"-- is that bit about the Emunand supposed to be that way? I feel like I'm supposed to have an Emunand.

Mind you, I'm very cautious to leave my 3ds wifi OFF so updates don't download and install. Not sure what happened here, but now I'm on campus for a long time with nothing to do, I was really planning on this thing working today lol. Didn't think I needed to check it last night.

Edit: it seems like it might be my SD card? I unmounted it, removed it, turned my 3ds off, put it back in and rebooted into the recovery menu and it gives me, "an error has occurred! Booting into safe mood would brick your 3ds/remove a9lh! Press any button to shut down"

Maybe it just died while it was sitting unused..? Not really sure what to do here.

Have you tried this?
https://3ds.hacks.guide/a9lh-to-b9s.html
al9h is outdated, you will need b9s.

If you're asking if I've tried that as a troubleshooting question-- no, I haven't . I don't understand why my 3ds would just stop working though. I plopped the microSD into my PC and it looks just fine.

I definitely will give this a go and update to B9S. As long as being on old firmware and CFW doesn't screw up converting from A9LH to B9S.

I'm reading this guide: do I understand correctly that this won't wipe all of my installed games?

It shouldn't if you do it correctly.

Get Luma 7.0.5 arm9loaderhax.bin and put that on the root of your SD card, replacing anything that's there. See if that helps.

@Quantumcat, I have a question that only an Australian 3DS/2DS owner can answer. It's for a something I'm working on but not yet ready to reveal. Still some bugs to iron out.

What is the Title ID of Nintendo 3DS Camera for a native AUS region 3DS firmware?

Sorry to jump into this but wouldn't it be the same as a euro 3ds as Australian 3ds systems are pal region. So by default wouldn't all pal 3ds have the exact same title ID?

3dbrew.org mentions differing region codes for the SecureInfo_A/B. If you edit that file at 0x100 offset to 03, GodMode9 shows the System info as Region (system): Australia. Their system title list doesn't show AUS as having its own unique IDs, so thus the question is raised, does AUS = EUR in system titles?

To test whether the two regions shared the same firmware, I tried EUR region changing my n3DSXL and then editing that file with that specific value. This breaks the HOME Menu boot like for any other mismatching regions between the SecureInfo and rest of the firmware. :(

While not absolutely needed, the project I'm working on would use that title id for the sake of user convenience. It's almost done, but more testing is still needed (namely on an o3DS). I was holding off plans of buying my nephew a o2DS but decided his will do for much needed research. It's kinda sadistic subjecting this brand new system to cruel experiments that are in store for it. However, I rather guarantee something works in practice versus theorized to work.

The only nice thing about the abuse is that I'll be wearing gloves, so that his hands will be the first to touch it if we don't count the factory workers that assembled his. LOL.

  1. GodMode9 → (HOME) button → More... → System info.
    • Top screen, lines 0003 and 0004 to check for realsies it's Australia[n].
  2. [1:] SYSNAND CTRNAND/title → hold (R)-shoulder and press (A) on 00040010 Search for titles<A> to continue.
    • 00040010???????? Nintendo 3DS Camera (CTR-N-HE...(?).tmd

aight so it's got me on the Luma 3DS v7.0.5 menu. To be clear, I only replaced arm9loaderhax.bin on my sd card, not the entire contents of the Luma 7.0.5 zip.

Do you want to keep the save games from your Gateway? If not, just follow https://3ds.guide from the beginning. You can use MSET to install B9S (the same exploit that lets you load Gateway).
