all other emulators work. did many fresh installations but N64 just crashes everytime i try to load a game.

Idk what i can even do at this point. am I missing something??

oh and im loading with the homebrew menu not a NSP

Not cfw, how are you loading hombrew? You need full ram access for n64 to not crash.

oh i didnt know that? I just click retroarch on the homebrew menu. do I have to do something else? thank you for helping me :)

Ive used smash and mario tennis and both work

You have to modify loader.ini file in atmosphere folder

Example:

[config]
hbl_tid=0100BDE00862A000 <----Mario Tennis ID - I have mario tennis installed - Hold R on launch of mario tennis and hombrew loads, n64 no longer crashes
hbl_path=atmosphere/hbl.nsp
override_key=R

My ini says this

[hbl_config]
title_id=010000000000100D
path=atmosphere/hbl.nsp
override_key=!R

[default_config]
override_key=!L

do i replace this?

Yes, change the title_id parameter to the Title ID of the game through which you’ll enter the Homebrew Menu. Personally, I’d also change the override_key parameter to “R” so that I won’t immediately boot into the Homebrew Menu if I’d like to play the donor game.

For those of you wondering, Othello has one of the smallest footprints for a full title that works to load the homebrew menu. I've been using it for a while now and it works great. I think it clocks in around 130Mb.

I don't like to use a game I'm actually going to play.

does this work with sxos yet?

They're never going to go out of their way to make it compatible with SX OS. (m4xw hates them) I've told you before you can hold R on a game to get the extra ram and get pretty good compatibility with that if it's not working after doing that you're doing something else wrong. I do that and run it off the nsp and it works fine and I have SX OS. Sometimes you have to change settings for certain games like framebuffer on or off.

I am getting weird errors when I try to restart/switch games. It will say No Core Loaded in the bottom, but then when I try to load a new game with the same core I was just using I get an error that says Failed to Load Content. When I use the Restart RetroArch command from the menus, it restarts and where ti previously said no core loaded it now shows that the last core I was using is loaded. I can usually start a game at this point.

Even if I do Quit RetroArch through the menu and re-launch it, it seems like the old core is still loaded and doesn't let me launch another game with that core.

nope! i just got into homebrew using the photo icon! how can i do that! do i need to change something on the loader.ini on atmosphere?

Yeah loader.ini needs changing

You need a title ID from an already installed game like this

Mario tennis is my donor game

[config]
hbl_tid=0100BDE00862A000
hbl_path=atmosphere/hbl.nsp
override_key=R

This is my config

Load mario tennis with A and I can play mario tennis - Load holding R and it loads homebrew with full ram access

    Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

    The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

    @Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

    They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

    It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

    Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

    @SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

    anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

    if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

    Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

    @BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
    You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
    still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
