How do you get fast forward to work on pcsx? I've tried vsync on/off, threaded video on/off, different run speeds, and a plethora of other options.

It works for me but doesn't do much. Try turning on FPS counter in notifications, I go from like 60 to 70-80 FPS. PSX rearmed barely runs fullspeed on Switch so I imagine there isn't much headroom for fast forwarding.

Can anyone tell me why PSX audio still sounds like a garbage disposal? I'm using the latest stable (1.7.6) Retroarch and the core posted by @m4xw that supports multiple audio tracks. My driver is switch_thread and audio latency is at the default 64ms. Yet I still hear audio that crackles and generally sounds like awful. I've been dealing with it but I wanted to play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and audio is kind of necessary to the game.

I've tried playing with the audio latency but it doesnt seem to make it any better (or worse). Am I missing something?

Edit: even when paused, you can hear static in PCSX. And I cannot figure out why.

Second edit: I think I fixed it. Run a slight overclock. 1,224Mhz or 1,581Mhz seems to be best. Set audio latency to 80ms, and enable frame duping if it isn't already enabled. I still get some slight audio pops while paused, they go away while playing. Also, enabling the FPS overlay showed me that the reason I was getting awful audio was because the game wasn't running fullspeed. It was running around 50FPS, which is why I decided to try running it with an overclock.

I was having this issue yesterday while playing Resident Evil 2. Fixed it by setting audio latency to 96.

Map fastforward to a hotkey under input settings.
In PS1 games I advice you to disable frame duplication while you are fast-forwarding otherwise it will be sort of choppy.

I tested this in Final Fantasy IX and it can actually speed up the game quite a bit on 1.2-1.5ghz OC. The result will vary depending on the game.

Having problems to launch bigger than 30mb NeoGeo games with atmosphere 0.8.4 someone can confirm it?
Yes - I confirm it, StarCraft 64 (32mb) runs very slow on mupen64-next core on SXOS, on Atmospere don't start ;-(
Maybe because you've got it backwards? SX OS = start with R button.
And the vice versa I try to launch NSP RetroArch on SXOS with R and without holding R button - all the same, StarCraft 64 runs very slow ;-(

I made all strongly like in this guide, and get an error with original mupen64 and mupen64next cores, the same trouble with PSX and Saturn cores, other light cores like NES SNES megadrive GBA - works perfect.
I dont know whats wrong. On SX OX I don't get this problems all work is fine instead mupen64 - it's very slowly.
On SX OS I start RetroArch from NSP.
On Atmosphere with R button.

Atmosphere 0.8.4
Retroarch 1.76 non nightly
Hold R (I used mario tennis title ID) on Mario Tennis and HB will load and you will have full ram acess
Neo Geo running fine big roms as well - Regular fba core loads them

@m4xw hello !!!
Hekate 4.8 contains the svc patch , confirms ?
Says in the change log that the changes to 4.6svc are included!
Change Log said:
Changelog:
v4.8:
  • Full 7.0.0/7.0.1 support.
    • The keys are generated via Atmosphère's sept.
    • Additionally the sept/payload.bin, if found that it is hekate, it gets updated via update.bin.
  • Reboot to a selected boot entry via HOS hb
    • You can now force a boot configuration on hekate by setting the boot storage in the hekate binary.
    • This can be done via a homebrew, which sets the ini entry that is desired to boot.
    • Additionally force boot to menu can also be achieved. Please check readme.md for more
  • Auto NoGC
    • It checks fuses and applies the patch automatically if higher firmware.
    • It is now a global config and set on auto by default. (0: Disabled, 1: Auto)
  • Fixed a bug with ini list, where it would hang when using wildcard * with kip1=.
  • Quality of life fixes under the hood, that ease user's life.
  • As always many bug fixes and some refactoring.
Backlog from v4.6svc beta:
  • svcControlCodeMemory patches that helps dynarec on emulators.
  • Fixed sleep mode with debug mode when official 6.X.X secmon is used
  • Added RTC driver which now also disables wake up alarm when Auto HOS Power Off is used
    • Helps when users that use AutoRCM inject and power off pretty fast.
  • Fixed GPU on Linux when booting from warmboot
  • Added missing fallback auto calibration of sd cards and plus some small fixes.

RTS on console = pain in the ass? But not in this case. The controls made by Mass Media for N64 gamepad in this port of the best Blizzard’s strategy game - is a best made controls of RTS for gamepad ever! For switch controls it’s play great, but lags in mupen64 - is pain((

I'm confident I'm not the first to ask this, but does a high contrast version of the Ozone menu exist? The white can be blinding at night, not to mention how much it'll keep yours truly awake due to the brighter light on the TV!

Ozone automatically matches the Switch's theme if you have "Use preferred system color theme" toggled under Settings -> User Interface -> Appearance

You can also change it manually in the same menu under Menu Color Theme, there's a Basic White and Basic Black version, same as the Switch's menu.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
